Firstly you need to buy your own domain name.

I use 123reg.co.uk (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.123-reg.co.uk/affiliate.cgi^QS^id=AF242120)

Just to add, once you've bought your domain (from under £3 a year for a .co.uk, but £9 a year for .com) you can have anything@jaboker.com

But how much would you pay to the bounder who's just registered it out from under your nose after getting wind of your intentions on an Internet Forum?

Hmmm... jaboker.com only £18 for two years? Bargain, where's my credit card?

Once you've acquired the domain, you can use a webmail service to collect your mail (squirrel, neomail etc). Not actually used my own URL to create a webmail addy yet ¬_¬

If you have ISP email then you can setup Outlook to appear to send email from the .com address and set your hosting account to forward the email sent to the .com address to your ISP one.

I think this is pretty much essential now with all the chopping and changing of ISPs that can happen when decent deals/service come and go. Just re-route your bought domain email address and no-one need know you've changed anything.

And with the ability to do anything@ jaboker.com you can have email addresses for each site you sign up for (e.g. dvdforums@ jaboker.com) and then you can track down the scum who's leaked your address to spammers :D
