Does anyone have the first season of this series on DVD - is the picture quality really as bad as some reviewers suggest?
It seems a bit odd that such a recent production should have any picture grain, but some reviews have said there is artifacting in almost every frame - is it really noticable?
Any advice/opinion would be appreciated. :)
Mine is R1 "Sex and the City" .
Season 2 is alot better.
The picture of 1st season is BAD!!!!! 2.5 out 5.
Well, if you like the show, then it's worth buying...
Sig is only slightley over the maximum there mate :D;)
Re sig; simply FFS!

DQ102, have already mailed you this AM on the size of your sig, can you reduce/remove it please as per T&C's
That sigs about 4x the max allowed!
As to the picture quality of Sex in the City S1, I couldn't believe the intermittent nature on the discs. Titles seemed fine, but the episodes themselves were very grainy. Surely the series wasn't produced on such a cheap budget to compromise the picture quality so severely?

Part of me wonders whether Fox (or whoever makes it) will reissue this series and not only remaster the episodes, but also put the discs in a proper case.
It is available in France on DVD, I dont suppose anyone knows what case its in and if the pic quality is any better?
Wasn't series 1 a Region 2 NTSC release? Or was that just one shop? Or perhaps the masters were bad and they thought a standards conversion would make it worse after MPEG2 compression. Not to say they were being cheap and using the same tape for both!!!!

You're correct a well done high street retailer had it as exclusive first then went to all retailers. Both are NTSC same as US but code R2 not R1 (see Play). Also has appalling folder case thing.

Actually I just found out that the French release is in my preferred Amaray packaging, so I'm gonna give it ago and even hope that the picture quality may be better!
