My wife bought the magazine Eve today, and it came with a free video "The Best of BBC Comedy" which includes a clip from "The Office", surely the best new comedy show of the last year!
The video claims that "all highlights are available to buy now", and on the back they list the BBC catalogue numbers for all the releases except for The Office which is "Available Autumn 2002".
So quite a while to wait, but it will be worth it.

Is My Family the one with Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker??
If so I think its the most over-rated piece of tripe thats currently on tv.
I keep reading that its the best bbc 1 sitcom in ages. Well, theres not a hell of a lot of competition (since the office is on beeb2) - the last really decent comedy was Men Behaving Badly.
I can't really see how anyone can enjoy it - I've never watched a whole episode (haven't got the will power to endure it) but everytime I do watch it looks like every other tired attempt by itv/ bbc at a decent sitcom with jokes that they practically signpost so no one misses them.
In fairness to My Family, I saw it as targeting the usual family audience - just a harmless amusing sitcom (possibly along the lines of Waiting for God, Keeping Up Appearances, et al). It's actually turned out to be much funnier than that and would be enjoyed by a much wider audience. I don't think the Beeb had it in mind for young twentysomethings (although I'm sure it's enjoyed by plenty of us!) so it is a little unfair to compare it to things like Men Behaving Badly.
Plus, it has Sarah Hills in it so....mmm...

"My Family" = "Butterflies" for 2001
Anyway, great news about "The Office", I wonder how well it'll do at the comedy awards?

And even this was originally an ITV show. Clearly it exceeded the permitted ITV quality threshold and it had to be sold off as it was of too high a calibre to co-exist with Blind Date and the like.
Not a fan of The Office myself, more because for me the fake docu-com genre has been done to death, best of all in the superb People Like Us.

The thing I don't understand about My Family(which I hate) is that whenever I turn on BBC it's on. Why is this?
The BBC have given us some of the funniest comedy ever and to show My Family on the same station that once showed Fawlty Towers, Only Fools & Horses, I'm Alan Partridge and Porridge is
an insult.
well i personally think The Office and My Family are both over-rated tripe.....
Only IMO of course :D
