View Full Version : US Sapphire and Steel: The Complete Series
Are these DVDs ok? Does anyone know if the transfer from Pal to NTSC is Ok?
The UK disks are now aout of print and going for too much for me to bother with but nostaga has got the better of me once again and I've got a hankering for elimental time detectives.
Here's a review (http://www.anorakzone.com/sapphireandsteel/tv/usdvd.html) of the US release which might help you make up your mind.
Sounds good, or better than the UK disks at least.

How can we order this if you only have a Debit Card in this country?
I'm a little adverse to getting a credit card, and so apparently have no way to order this, which is a pain.
Can anyone help?
OOh just ordered it. I didn't know you could just log on to .com and buy with your UK account. Rats, I missed out on an OOP title that was not on the UK site. It's now £60 and not really worth it.
Shame you can't do that with all the amazons around the world.

I can't do it with amazon japan.
Ah, there you have me; US, Britain, Canada, France, Germany...but not Japan.
And no, it's not over the Custom limit.
G'damn it. I could have ordered a CD I wanted from germany! Instead I bought it for inflated price.
And no, it's not over the Custom limit.
I think it is when you add shipping (which I think is included in the calculation).

I think it is when you add shipping (which I think is included in the calculation).
As I understand it, shipping is only taken into the calculation when the item itself is over the limit, and as it comes to around £17 before shipping, you should be as safe as a very, very safe thing.

You sure? Go here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/518224/thedvdforums-20). It does say:
Can I use a debit card or check card?
If you're paying with a Visa Check Card, please select Visa from the drop-down menu on the order form. Similarly, if you're paying with a EuroCard or MasterMoney Card, select MasterCard.

I'm sure I read that Amazon.com only list the total cost on the customs declaration rather than separating it into item cost and shipping, so you will have to pay if shipping pushes it over £18. You'd be able to claim back the VAT from HMCE but I'm not sure whether you could claim back Royal Mail's handling fee.
This could be utter rubbish though so you may want to check the suppliers' forum first.

But what's a EuroCard and MasterMoney Card?

Amazon.com list value of goods and shipping costs separately on their customs declarations.

There we go then, utter rubbish. Thanks for clearing that up :)

Is this is a good show? Is £18 good value for it?
70% off sounds quite a good bargain to me!
One of the weirdest ITV ever made thats for sure - elimental time detectives. I find ep one almost impossible to watch but it is kind of bonkers enough stare at and wonder how ITV ever aggreed to make it (and then make more). I loved it as a kid and it is still 'way out' enough to make entertaining viewing.
Superb and very dark ending to the series.
