View Full Version : [PC] Pro Evo 5 masterclass thread
You must all think I'm obsessed starting these threads - but actually I'm just bored.
But seriously, I've only just discovered that you could curl free kicks in Pro Evo 4.
So, any tips and tricks you find for 5 post here!

Try shooting from the edge of the 18 yard box. Seems much easier to score 20 yarders than before. Keepers seem great a stopping chips now, which is a right PIA

Shoot, shoot and shoot some more.
Crosses do seem to be effective too and I'm begining to nail the ball over the top as well now :)

I just can't get on the end of any crosses at all. They all just seem to sail past my players :(

Got to admit (from playing PS2 version :O) the crosses seem a lot harder to nail.
The through balls aren't as effective.
Through balls in the air can be damn good!
Chipping the keeper is tougher.
Shooting from the edge of the box can be very effective!
Free kicks rock!
I've found through balls more effective than PES 4 due to Super Cancel seemingly not being all conquering so far
I've found crossing to be far more 'satisfying' - espically the double O tap ones
FKs are a much greater threat now - managed to score my first online one in PES5 inside 4 games. It took me till 2 weeks ago to manage the same on PES4 online
You need to ensure more this time that your players are 'balanced' before passing - otherwise its damn accurary to result in a crap pass!
Scoring from corners is now much much harder.
I'm also having problems with one on ones. Even with Henry I find it hard to tuck away.

That is a real difficulty now - precise finishing is so much harder. Should try it with Djibs Cisse - he just smacks it 1000000mph everytime at the GK! :D

I still can't master shooting - why is it you can push shoot for the same amount of time, but on one occasion your shot hits the floodlights, but on another it bobbles to the keeper
Is it all to do with how you hold the directional pad?

Depends on how the player is balanced as well. Head down and over the ball and it should stay low. Leaning back and a bit off-balance and he'll be breaking bulbs.

Anyone got an tips for shooting from freekicks?
Mine either hit the wall or go over the bar.

Hold L1, aim to the right and then shoot whilst pressing forward and left on the direction - should give you a nice bending freekick that doesn't blast over the bar (if you get the power right).
Roughly:
Pressing forward keeps the shot lower
Pressing backwards sends the ball higher so you need more on the power bar
Left and right obviously bends the ball
Holding L1 should give extra power
Try combinations as well - if you need to get it up over the wall, press backwards and give the ball quite a kick, but then as he's struck the ball, change the direction to forwards and try bending it as well. Effect should be that the ball makes it over the wall but then bends and should dip.
Try the freekick challenge training :)

Finally sussed the chip - you need to hold shoot a little longer in 5 than you do in 4 :D

i go for chip shot 2 !!
Its harder then pes4 though :(
Also with the dink chip shot (R1), you have to really wait until the last minute to use it, otherwise they tend to get a hand to it even if they're on the ground.
2 top tips:
1 - Fake shot when you are 1v1 on the keeper, press shoot, then pass and the keeper will hit the deck normally leaving you with an open goal.
2 - When taking free kicks, tap shoot 3 times to get to your desired power and you tend to get more curl and dip.

I find that much harder in PES5. Did it loads in PES4 but, as the ball does not stick to feet as much in PES5, it seems harder to pull off.

When you receive the ball with your back to the goal what do you do:-
- Turn to go onto your left foot;
- Turn to go on your right foot;
- Stick your arse out and hope that Ono slides in from behind.

I thought as much, been spending too much time onthe x box version ,
how the hell do some of you can keep switching from this league to the x box one is beyond me  After a few daya of just x box the pc felt well strange ..........
You're best pressing R2 just after you've received the ball though, otherwise you'll trap it.
It's not too bad on the 360 as the pads are pretty similar, with the triggers replacing a couple of the shoulder buttons. The pace of the xbox version takes a bit of getting used to though.

Any tips on keeping the the shot low /under the bar ??
Is it purely down to the length of pressing the shoot button or can d-pad make a diffrence ?
Also whan you shot, what does the direction of the d-pad do ?? as in pressng left make it shoot left or pressing up make it shoot left depending on the direction you're shooting ?
It's a combination of a lot of things. The direction you hold, the length of pressing shoot, the timing of the shot (if the balls in the air), whether it's out of your feet etc.
In general, you want to be pressing diagnolly backwards and a direction. So if you're playing from left to right, hold down and to the left or down and to the right. If you're going from right to left, hold up and to the left or up and to the right. If you're in a 1-on-1 situation coming in straight (not at an angle), I tend to tap shoot and hold down or up, rather than diagnolly.

cheers will give them a go
Im confussed Damell, don't you use up diagonal and down diagonal to shoot in to either near or far post
So left to right
up to shoot towards the left hand post you are shooting towards and down to shoot to the right hand post
Yep sorry mate, just re-read what I wrote and I have the directions the wrong way round.
 Thought i'd been doing it wrong all this time

How do you knock the ball really far in front of your player when running? I know you tap the button (R1) repeatedly to knock it further than normal, but I've seen players knock it waaaaaay out in front which helps if trying to break away from the last man.

Around now for games. As for knocking it miles ahead, hold RUN and then in the direction you are running in, press the d pad into either 45 degrees up or down (assuming you are using a ps2 pad, press into the top or bottom corners between the buttons on the left d-pad).

If i am running from left to right i just double tap 'right' on the d-pad.
