View Full Version : [ALL PES PLAYERS] - Stand Back Boys, Bolch whips out his big one

Bolch
26-10-2005, 20:20
As I've mentioned (and spoken to some of you privetly about) I've been working on a website. This website started out as one for us to record all our PES leagues/matches to make live easier for the organisers. This is now being developed into a site where anyone (yes including Fifa boys *spits* could create their own leagues).

For the last 10 days I've been working away in all my spare time working on the backend of the site. This is now 90% complete. The function to create and manage leagues still isn't there, but it will be shortly. In the mean time I've been working on the code to dynamically generate the tables and individual player statistics so when results go in the tables and stats automatically update.

As a test model I've been using the results from the PC leagues over the last 7 seasons. All the results from the 7 leagues are in the database, including the results from the first FA Cup. Results from the other cup competitions will come in due course.

The site is called cyberleaguetables.com and as yet has nothing on the home page as it's not ready to go. However as these leagues were what gave me the idea, I've created a direct back door in taking you to the DVD Forums League tables. This will be a permant back door (insert obvious Gary reference) left open for you guys. You can access it with the following URL - http://dvdf.cyberleaguetables.com So go on knock yourself out and let me know what you think :D

To do List (In order of importance)
1) I need to import the Excel spreadsheets Steviep922 sent so all the results/stats from the Xbox leagues are in there

2) Results from other cup competitions still need to go into the database

3) A page needs to be created for viewing the cup results (cup results are already included in the player stats page)

4) A player ranking system needs to be put in place. Question is how do we rank players. My initial thoughts are take their average win percertage, add to that half their average draw percentage and then order on that. Thoughts?

5) The results table on the league table pages looks guff and needs some kind of formatting behind it

6) Each league, for each division, in each season needs a Promotion/Relegation Zone. This will be controlable by the league manager/admin. They will be able to increase/decrease how many players go/down - this will be handy when players join/get booted mid season. League managers will be able to add/remove players as they choose.

7) A rules page for each season.

8) A log in system needs to be created so leagues can run in 1 of 2 ways. Either a league manager updates all the scores and league members just view them, or league members can input their own scores. In the second instance when a player enters the scores and email will be sent to his opponent asking him to click a link to confirm. A league manager will be able to overwrite scores at any time.

9) I intend to create a ladder system as well for the site in general. This could me put to use here for the people who like to play more competitive matches than anyone else (ie john316)

Please leave any thoughts, comments, suggestions etc

EDIT - Forgot to say - a big big thank you to Phayze for donating the web design

Do you want the Roll of Honour (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=390192) for the site Chris?

Cheers mate. I've been thinking and it definitly should be on there (as a feature that other leagues can use). My issue at the moment is the tables are all being built on the fly. So at the moment I'd have to compile the results for all the seperate seasons to determin who won as I just can't plug it out of a field from the db. The roll of honour, might have to be something that's not as automated as I'd like so I'm going to sit onit for the moment but will be coming back to it.

Ono
26-10-2005, 20:53
I agree that it would add value the "service" if something like it was added to the site.

The automation of it would depend on the "Chairman" of each league pressing a button I suppose to retrieve the winner info from the tables.

I'm listed twice though, as steviep & steviep922.

Fixed that now mate, sorry.

Art: Fully intend to, hence the 'generic' url. Hoping to expand the site to all sports (both virtual and real life)

Forgot to explain the Av.P on the player stats screen is average points earned against that player. For example if you've played twice and won 1 each that's 3 points. 3 points over the 2 games you've played averages at 1.5 points.

On the original version (before I ported to new site design) the idea was it colour coded how well you'd played against that play.

Anything over 1.5 was colour coded green
1.0 - 1.5 was colour coded yellow
below 1.0 was colour coded red

They've not been implemented on the new site layout as the old style behind the colour coding looked crap when placed on the new site, so I need to come up with another style.

AV.S is obviously average score.

Bolch, what can I say.

I heard you had a whopper, and I was just drooling with anticipation for seeing you whack it out. And I hoped that when you did, you would let me in the back door.

Now you finally have, and the tension of the wait was worth it.

When I saw this thread, I trembled with anticipation before slowly entering your portal through the back door.

When i finally witnessed it in all it's glory I marvelled.

I've grabbed it with both hands, and given it a good working over. I thrashed it within an inch of it's life, but I just couldn't break it .

It has knocked me for six in many ways.

Bolch, you're a master!

If you need any css tweaking as you add things that weren't thought of in the first place. Let me know. League tables could do with being width:100%; and I can change the header graphic to something more generic too...

Bolch
26-10-2005, 23:06
Cheers mate, still gettting to grips with css, can do all the colour, font formatting, image layout etc It's more the positioning that throws me.

For example the playerstats page I've got the Jump to player box. A the moment that's in a 2 column 1 row table with the other column being the player name. I'm sure there's a better way of doing it in css but wouldn't know where to start and needed a quick fix for that layout.

Looks good matey, couple of things that i think would be nice.

when you look at the indivdual stats page of each player, it would be nice to be able to sort the "Breakdown by Apponent" table by different columns, so say you wanted to see who you played best against, you could sort it by AV.P

Also, as you are doing for the last season, a indivdual stat page for each team. Probably loads of work though.

Oh yeah, don't forget to include the super league

Fantastic work mate - yet another example of your commitment to providing all us undeserving (some more than others :p ) people with the best Online league about.

Gonna start shouting at people (myself included) to get the SL finished ASAP if we want to include the results for the stats info.

Any support you need mate - just need to ask.

Cheers again bud - you are the man!!!

Right, SL, "OY! KELLY! GET YOUR SL GAMES PLAYED YOU.........."

The database was built so I could do this, but haven't got around to implementing it yet. It is on the cards though :)

Also, as you are doing for the last season, a indivdual stat page for each team. Probably loads of work though.

Thought about this too but decided to drop it as a lot of the teams were unique in their seasons (ie International teams in S1. Season 5 and 6 was an attempt at using some of the obscurer teams etc. I'll have a think about it, but can't see it being much use at the moment tbh. Feel free to prove me wrong though ;)

With the Super League I'm going to include it, but I'm going to enter it as a ladder tournament (which means no results table under the rankings table). If you look at the results table for Season 1 you'll see why

Just need to design the ladder part, that will probably be done once the SL is over.

daz_75
27-10-2005, 16:05
That's cool mate.

"but can't see it being much use at the moment"

It's not the usefulness it's the fact i like to see stats on things. :dork: One of the resons i like BF2 and cricket :dork: :dork:

The more stats the better for me.

As long as the SL games are included in the percentages for each player i don't mind how you do it, most of my best results are in there ;)

Just realised because of how I've written the site I could do the team stats just by copying the player stats page and doing some find>replaces.

So Team stats are now on there. A tad buggy, and some teams are in multiple times (Man U + Man Utd) but I'll sort it over the weekend.

Great stuff Bolch, Very cool site. I might re join the PC league to improve my stats! :dork:

I have taken points off everyone I have played (bar a dodgy cup game against Chet Lee), so I am quite happy, although I haven't really played any of the Prem big boys. I'm sure I would give em all a thrashing if they were round at mine on my PS2 ;)

Who are the best players on the stats? Does anyone know? I know who's top!!

I've not started that yet as I've not imported all the results from the cup competitions. But my plan is to award 1 point per av win percentage and half a point per av draw percentage to balance it out with goal difference deciding when players are on equal points.

I think it's a masterpiece Bolch but I have one plea...put the stats on the backburner for the mo and get the live leagues running as soon as poss!

You obviously know how many people are taking part in pro evo comps on these forums and so because they are all starting about now it would be good to migrate sooner rather than later! This criticism is a compliment, because I think it'd be great to have everyone on there and run all leagues from your site!

I am just being a spoil sport really as I have never been involved in the Pro Evo leagues.

Tremendous work, must have taken you A LOT of spare time

Bolch
28-10-2005, 17:06

Yup, that's it :p
