I want to get back into playing war games on the PC, I just cannot get used to consoles, I am very comfortable with the mouse etc....
Me and my son have played the following and enjoyed, we enjoy blowing things up or sneaking around
MOHAA
RTCW
UT2003
The Great Escape
Spliter cell 1+2
Battlefield 1942 I couldn't get into.

The Call Of Duty series.
Which is the better out of the series, looking to play online too!
Call of Duty 2 - out on nov 4
or you can get the first one with expansion (call of duty deluxe version)
for around £19.99 in Game
Call of Duty + the United offensive add on
Or just wait for CoD2
Then come and play on the European Ranked number one server and number 5 in the world over at www.dvdf.net

when you say 'war' do you mean games set in an actual war or just games where you get to shoot people in the face?

I'd suggest trying to get into BF1942 - its a great game when you get into it. So good that I barely touched UT2004.

Oooh... the Daddy of war games. :notworthy
Was the best thing since sliced bread upon its release. The years haven't been kind to the graphics, but it's still king of the hill gameplay wise. There simply isn't anything else available that offers so much scope.
The 'sequel' is looking ****hot too

Cannon Fodder

It's more of a simulation rather than an arcade game like CoD etc..
It's a little unfair comparing it to BF2 TBH, they're 2 completely different styles, and obviously BF2 is only of use online. :)
Cannon Fodder
:notworthy
"Soldiers: Heros of WW2" was one of my favorite games from last year, and owes a little to the classic of Cannon Fodder.
If you like "blowing **** up", then this has it by the bucket load & looks fantastic.
I always though Cannon Fodder looked **** on the PC, was miles better on the Amiga
