Has anyone seen this?

I remember when it came out it looked really impressive, and its only £14.99 at CD-wow with some awesome extras - very tempting

Watched this a few months ago when the R1 edition came out. Great movie with believeable script and decent acting, even from Costner. Strangely enough I'd only viewed JFK : Directors Cut the day before and would thoroughly recommend them as a double bill.

this is one hell of a film. very thought provoking. havent got the DVD, but there seems to be alot of good stuff in there, the one of particular interest to me is the historical commentary on the crisis by kennedy.

but all that aside i would recommend the movie to anyone, an enjoyable two hours.

Another one who loved the film and some great extras. The R4 is out soon with a DTS track.

Given the film was essentially dialogue driven, I can't imagine a DTS soundtrack making a lot of difference. That said, nice to see more R4 titles getting DTS soundtracks as standard. Only problem is that it makes deciding when to purchase harder as I sometimes don't know whether to wait for titles to come out in all regions or just buy the R1 edition which is invariably out sooner. Think I might start waiting to see what R4 offers in future as it may well help in easing the pressure on my bank balance/credit cards for a few months, especially with the still favourable exchange rate. :D

I agree about the DTS track on Thirteen Days, not that necessary but very welcome for somebody who hasn't got the film.

I also agree about differing region specs. Had the same dilemma with Enemy at the Gates recently. Had the R1 which I was pleased with but changed over to R2 when I realised it has a DTS track and a few more commentaries. R4 is definitely the Region to keep an eye out on. Same or better specs then R1 and very much cheaper than R1 and R2.

agreed. though as much for their differences as their similarities.

imho, thirteen days being an excercise in creating a compelling drama out of hard fact with very little artitstic embellishment. JFK being a superbly well-made and well-acted movie unfortunately based almost completely on wild speculation and arguably the least professional and most unjust investigation of all time.

Another recommendation for Thirteen Days from me too. There's something about the political situation in the Americas in the late fifties and sixties that makes for compelling drama.

The JFK conspiracy definitely plays a large role in this intrigue but I think it's important to remember that Stone's JFK was intended to depict one possible conspiracy theory rather than hard fact. It uses this conspiracy theory to create the dramatic tension while using historical fact to highlight what a shambles the original and subsequent investigations into the assassination have been. There is no doubt that there was a conspiracy and a cover-up by the authorities and the public have a right to know. This, I think, is the films real message.

Another vote from me too - liked the film. But Costner's accent!!! I don't think it was too popular in Boston.

I too was put off by Costner's accent until i listened to the historical commentary track which contains the voice of the real Kenny O'Donnell. Believe it or not, he really did talk like that and Costner got it pretty close. Excellent film, but the R4 doesn't have the cool 'Infinifilm' mode i don't think. :)

Thumbs up from me too. We borrowed the r1 off of someone at my Mums work and i *had* to watch it one night before it went back. Very good even though i wasn't in the mood for that sort of film it gripped me from the beginning. If it's the r1 infinifilm for £14.99 then i would say go for it.

Definatley a keeper.:D

Not had a chance to listen to his real voice. What a scary thought having an accent like that :D
