A&V on French Connection are excellent. The extras are generally good, even though they tend to cover the same ground. Dont no about number 2 but French Connection is an essential purchase if you like the film.

Only dropped thru my letterbox today. Checked out the chase in FC1 and it looked very good. I won't get a chance to look at them until the weekend at the earliest.

hmm - I don't own too many 'older' movies and I must say that I was very impressed with the picture quality on TFC - I haven't checked out 2 yet, but it was great to see the first one looking so good.

"The French Connection" is a superb transfer with some excellent extra features. Check out my review here (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=298&story=2233)

I could conjure up a review of the second one if anyone is interested. It's similarly impressive transfer wise and has two interesting commentaries. A very underrated movie as well.

Hi

Never watched TFC or TFC2... Play has the 1st one (5 star) for 16 and the box with the 2nd also for 18. 18 seems better, 2nd one for 2 pounds basically... umm, first, si the 2nd good, and if its in the box set, will the first disc be exactly the same as if i were to buy it seperately? All extras etc intact?? Cheers :):)

Both films are great!! The second one isn't in the same class as the first, but is still an original and controversial piece that still shocks today. Buy it if you like fine, morally ambiguous, gritty drama.

So does the boxset contain the 1st film as the five star collection (as if i'd bought it seperately) or is it one with less extras but both films?? :) cheers!

nope - it's the full Five Star edition of the first, with the second included.

Great. So I don't miss anything if I get the ox set? I'll get it soon after Xmas meethinks. £18 can't be bad, when the first is £16... if I dont like the 2nd, i'm sur ei'll get more than £2 for it...lol :) And I'll probably like it anyway :)

Part 2 is very good, it feels like the first one which gives excellent continuity feel.
