I've created a website for a friend of mine, anyway she's just emailed me to say that when she goes to the site all comes up fine except all the pages come up as 'untitled'? Anyway to remedy this.

Thanks in advance :)

You mean in the title bar along the top?

Have you added a title to each page? If not, then just type it in the box near the top of the screen, which usually default to 'Untitled Document' if you don't put anything in there yourself.

Sorry if that's a bit obvious and you've already done that?

Or if its an old version of Dreamweaver, its in Modify - Page properties

Oh god, I'm an idiot, hadn't even noticed that! Thanks for the help, it's always so simple isn't it?

Cheers :)

Hmmm, I've titled the pages and they still come up as 'untitled'. When I view code in Dreamweaver it says they're titled, but when I view source online it says 'untitled'?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you using frames on the website?

If you look in the code do you have your page title in the head section of your code?

replace [ ] with < >

Here have done a picture for you to show you exactly the 2 places you can put the title of the page as it appears on a browser:

There you go :)

no need to edit the code in dreamweaver
just change the title box text. If you do add to the code, what ever is in this box needs to be deleted or it will add it on to the title which is why its saying "untitled document - you title here"

Although, I do have another slight problem, the email button works and opens up mail when I try to send one, but the email doesn't arrive? Doesn't get bounced back either? The address is definately correct, any ideas?

banky

yeh, that's what I don't understand, when you click the link it opens up mail/outlook and sends the email fine, but she's just not getting them, could it be a Hotmail problem?

nice site by the way. Good clean design. But i have a couple of comments (hope you dont mind)

You want to make the main blocks of text into hmtl text rather than an image for a whole load of reasons. SEO, ease of updating, file size, accessibility, etc etc.

You could do this and keep the site looking pretty much exactly the same

Also images which are mainly flat colour are better being saved as Gifs . (like your menu options, e.g "electolsis". They will look better and have a smaller file size. (jpgs are better for images with gradiated colour, like the photo of the woman.)

Cheers for that, I'm new to the whole website thing and had some trouble with type, so I just designed the pages in Illustrator then, JPEG'd them in photoshop, I know that's probably the worst way to do it but I was in a bit of a hurry so didi it the way I felt comfortable. Will definately have a play and try some of your suggestions, thanks. :)
