And what a relief for me! :D I was celebrating after sneaking the draw - like i'd won the League itself.
The stats say it all, i was outclassed, outgunned, and dominated like a submissive sex slave on heroin. It was a tough game to play and it's been my most difficult of the league campaign so far. I wouldn't say i'm a bad player - it's just Tim really upped the ante on this one.
The friendlies had me worried with Tim pulling the trigger after blistering runs from 35 yards out and hitting the back of the net, and all i could try to do was tweak my strategies to toughen my defense. This is what i had to resort to in the Official game but i soon realised that i was sitting too deep, and Tim's play was being forced upon me so i tried to play more attack in the second half. It relieved a bit of pressure but made for an agonising last few minutes to the final whistle where i think he had about 3 or 4 freekicks in dangerous positions.
What can i say, Tim deserved more, but i'm very pleased to gain a point here.
Ps, Quite cheeky of Tim to tease me with a lot of goalie passing!

Not just to him, but 90 degrees sidways about 10 feet for a tap in. Argh! Thought I might have a chance at 2-1, but tried everything and when eto'o missed 2 good opportunities, knew it wouldnt be my game. Good game though, cheers.

Thanks for posting the stats Rohail. I think the best man won by quite a long way - you missed an open goal too, so a more than fair result. Can't believe how difficult it is to get the ball off you!

Thanks for posting the stats SS. You had the better of me in the second half and a bit of desperate defending on my part so I count myself rather lucky. Think I'm probably going to be hanging on for a point and hoping for a lucky goal against the quality of opposition that seems to be in this league. I think you should win top prize for team with the best kit.

wow a good few games played last night. As usual I'll probably update the scores tonight, but I did put the spreadsheet online so if I can get Office on this machine at work I'll do it here in between pretending to work.
By the way I forgot to add, if anyone plays Freelancer let him score because he has one of the most original celebration phrases I've seen and it brough a smile to my face and made me wish I had thought of it. Although it is spelt wrong Freelancer :) but I got what you meant!
Can't believe how many nil nils there have been, but I just suppose everyone takes less risks in defence and attack when they're playing for real so less goals?

Been playing Res Evil 4 as well not much Pro Evo, better get some practice in :suspect: to hold on to my top spot.

Its worth watching for the occaisional gem, such as Ian Hislops showdown with Mrs Archer! It's practially the only thing i watch on TV regularly.
Is it just me trying to work out if hannanshah is a man or woman? I think it is because your username reminds me of Hannah! Judging by your last comment (and your love of pro evo) I rekon you're a guy, am I right? :D

I got completely owned. The practise match was even worse, my leaky defence let in 10 goals in two matches, and I dunno how i scored!
A game notable only for my goalkeeper being caught in possession of the ball in the 2nd minute and letting Bergkamp score.
I hope the rest of you aren't this good, or that wooden spoon's mine already.

The phrase concerns a legendary exclamation in SERIA A football TV coverage, as seen on CH4, and now Bravo TV - and seemed the most obvious choice to include in my celebration phrases.
The phrase revealed to all the cuious and impatient among you (but i'm sure you guys would just rather wait until i score a goal against you of course) is included in the spoiler, along with some interesting history behind it.
"Golazo!"
Supposedly shouted by Jose Altafini. It featured on the start of the opening credits in CH4's Seria A program.

But while 'Golaccio' might not be promoted by Italian language purists, Guillermo Pérez Carazo mails in from Madrid to contend: "Actually it's a Spanish word. It's the result of fixing the augmentative termination '-azo' (which means 'massive') to the word 'gol', the Spanish fashion of writing and saying the English 'goal'. So, the meaning of 'golazo' would be 'great goal', and it's naturally and often said by pundits and fans when they get impressed by a goal (something like 'oh, what a goal, man!')."

Thanks for the game Rohail. I thought I wa going to be in trouble when the game started and you seemed to be passing it around much more easily than me. My breakthrough was a bit of luck really. A cross the keeper came for and missed letting Kaka sneak in and head into an empty net. This calmed me down and the game became a lot more even, until a wonderful solo effort by Schevchenko. I then changed formation to bolster midfield but had to survive and onslaught from Rohail which ended in a goal in the 90th minute.

It was a tight game until I broke the deadlock before half time and soon after that Henry won one of those dodgy pens where u get touched but the guy doesn't fall over. CMG went all out to score and I had a few chances on the break and finally secured the game with a quick counter attack and Henry slotting into an empty net. CMG was attacking not stop and gave himself a chance with a headed corner but I survived.

Well we went into an official game straight away to put it mildly it was one of the all time great 0-0 batterings on my part until somehow the connection went 70 mins while I was mkaing a substitution.
The first half of the second game proceeded in the same way but this time I scored 3 in the first half. After making a few tactical changes Dunny kept me on the back foot throughout the second half but couldn't manage more than the solitary goal.
He had the moral victory by holding me in the first game but I won the war!

How about now, is that right? There was an error in the formulas in the table so it was taking GR81s goal diff and putting it in your column. I'm not sure how this was never picked up because this spreadsheet has been used for 4 seasons!

The practise matches before and after had a lot more goals from about the same amount of shots, I guess we were just on our guard in the real match. My team also couldn't shoot for toffee, damn Hartson and those pies he's been eating. I was fighting a serious rear guard action in the first half, frantic defence against teh chelsea forwards. :(

After playing your game one of you needs to go to http://www.dvdfpes.co.uk and login using the link on the right. This should then take you to a page with a link that will allow you to submit a score.
After clicking this you will see a list of your outstanding games. Each game will be in 1 of 3 states.
1) Ready for you to input a score
2) Ready for you to confirm a score your opponent entered
3) Awaiting confirmation from your opponent for a score you entered.
When you enter a score it will goto an awaiting state. At the same time your opponent will be emailed a link to click on. Clicking on this link verify's the score you entered is correct.
For some reason your stats arn't working (got by clicking on your name/team). I'm working on that. Also going to change the leagues link on the right now to give a passage into your league table (will be done in the next 10/20 minutes.
Other than that have a go, let me know of any faults/suggestions in the Sticky thread in this forum.

I went in to a lead in the first half and then double it, but then the tide seemed to turn. Wocko managed to equalize and then I had a tough time preventing the equaliser. The stats give some indication as to the way the game went :)
I submitted the score to Bolchs site and then Wocko confirmed the result and it all took about 10 seconds...I much prefer it :thumbs:
Also, I have permission to blow my own trumpet from Wocko about a goal I scored in the friendly we had afterwards. A cross came in and Schevchenko scored an overhead into the top corner from outside the box!!!!!! But alas, Wocko will be the only one to have ever seen the greatest goal ever scored :)

Word of warning to all, Henry is amazing and Jez really knows how to use him, I just couldn't contain him! We've submitted and confirmed the score to Bolchs site. What a great match this was! A real end to end battle.
Eto'o put Barca ahead from 20 yards and I was worried. Hit straight back with Bergkamp. Henry then put me ahead just before half time with a lovely side footer from 20 yards. However, MI5SION hit back with a headed corner after the break and I was very annoyed!
It then turned into the Henry show! Straight after the equaliser Henry broke through and pinged a shot into the corner from 20 yards with the keeper just watching it pass by (that really satisfied me!).
ADVICE TO ALL PLAYERS: HOLD R2 for a perfectly placed shot. It makes long range scoring so much easier.
Bergkamp than missed an open goal and I feared the way the game had gone it could come back and cost me. However, Mr Henry took care of my worries. His next two goals were perfect 20 yard free kicks!
I've only described the goals but it was seriously end to end stuff and it was a great match!

Good game. Though all over me, thought I might be in luck with an early goal. Hope didnt last long though with a nice passing move through the middle that Bergkamp finished cleanly. Never felt totally overpowered though, and thought I held my own. Then came the 2nd half, and a couple of fouls outside my area lead to Henry scoring 2 freekicks. Be warned, GR81 is very good at freekicks. Give em away, your giving away a goal. All in all, a good game. Thanks.

Very physical game. Had a hard time trying to break down cmg's defence with the tackles flying in (and my fave Ronaldinho off injured), but some pressure in the area led to the penalty. 2nd half, Rooney caught a long ball down the middle and took a good shot which the keeper deflected to Nistleroys feet for a tap in. Rest of the game was patchy on both sides without many good opportunities.

Two top class games. I wasn't happy with my first game. Everything that could've gone wrong seemed to. Gave Tim a 2 goal start and all my chances were saved by the keeper, lag messed up the passing, fouls not given etc. (my biased opinion of course!). Almost managed to nick the draw but just couldn't get the second.
In the second game I scored very early through Henry but then had Senderos sent off for a foul outside the box. Went 2-0 up with a brilliant Gilberto volley from a corner just before half time only to let Tim back who scored a Gillardino volley from a tight angle in injury time. Though I'd blown it as Tim dominated. But up stepped Henry with a great 30 yard free kick (magic R2 button) and saved my arse! (MI5SION knows exactly how Tim felt about that free kick!)
Enjoyed those games alot. Just when I thought I'd blown the first game I was in with a shout but couldn't do it. In the second game I thought I was clear but ended up with a real tense affair.

I didn't get any email (and never have) but I'm assuming that's down to crappy Hotmail which seems to block too much. What's the originating address that I can add to my Safe List in the junk mail filter?
Also I've noticed the game between MI5SION and myself (finished 2-5) still says awaiting on your site eventhough we've both entered the score and the table and results have been updated with that score. Possibily a minor bug?

According to the DB you entered the score, so MI5SION would have to login and follow the links to verify it. Can't see how both of you could've entered the score (unless you did it at the same time?). But even scores awaiting confirmation show in the table (not a bug, just something I've not sorted since coding this extra bit.

I was annoyed with the first game because Drogba gave me the complete runaround, and we all know he's a terrible player!
Got a bit lucky with the second as it was a storming free kick and the game cud have gone either way, but luckily I managed to stop Bigmacus gettin too many shots off.
Playing MiS5ion later in between watching the footy on sky
drogba did seem to have a bit of a blinder in the first game, still thought i got lucky though.
In the second game i just could not get any shots in.
good games though even if i did mean i lost my unbeaten record :(

Can't believe Jez equalised in injury time. I went ahead through a fluky own goal and had several first half chances to kill off the game but I just couldn't score. In the second half Jez murdered me but just as I thought I was safe he friggin scored!

I'm sad to say my PES5 days are over for the next 6 months. About half an hour after my auction ended for the Playstation the guy came round and collected it for £90. Happy with the money but sad not to be able to play on it for quite a while. :(

Oh this game was tense, to be honist i was pooing my pants before hand with his massive about of for goals! The own goal was a joke the keeper parried it to my man who decided to ehad it into my net idiot!! :doh:
I didnt really create any clear cut chances and the 1 or 2 i rushed the finish and it was saved. However, 90+ i broke through and manged to keep my nerver to fake shot and take it round the keeper sloting into an empy net. I cannot believe i kept my cool to be honist i am usually a bottler :cuckoo:

As I mentioned on my first post, I work late often. I was online Thursday night but no-one around. I can online get online about one night a week - and if there's anyone around then I try to play both my games against them. If it's a problem then I'm happy to dip out as I can understand it might annoy people.

I am getting a bit annoyed now. The only people I ever see online are Marty, Jez, wocko and mikthe20 (though he's always busy!). I think we should all just play whatever fixtures we can, even if it means playing our return fixtures because otherwise we will never get a game in.

Cheers Jez. I've got my own small business so I sometimes work a lot of hours(got Messenger at work so that's why you can see me during the day Hannan). Also means I can't just go home and Play - wife wants some attention too! I'll aim to be online Wednesday evening for a proper sesh. I'll confirm Wednesday during the day though in case something comes up at work. The advantage for everyone else is that I have had abolutely no time to practice!

I wasn't glorifying your honours, just laughing at some of the crap listed on that page. Almost as bad as Chelsea's Full Members' Cup!
As for the PES league, does anyone actually care? If not at least have the courtesy to let us know so myself, Jez and mik can setup our own mini league!

I was feeling a bit lonely last night. I suspect that people are busy with Christmas shopping and going out so I suppost it's inevitable that people won't be online so much. I suggest we just take it easy until the new year and review where we are then. In the meantime, people play when they can - I certainly hope to burn off some of my Xmas lunch with a runaround on PES5!

Hi guys,
Just getting back into the world of the Forums after a long time away, many apologies for not writing this sooner but I’ve been really busy over the last few months moving house, working freelance and searching for jobs, hence the reason I haven’t been around on the Pro Evo circuit.
Anyway it's been great playing with you guys but I’m going to call it a day on the league, sorry if this annoys anyone but I simply don’t have the time any more and it would be unfair to you lot as I wouldn’t ever have any idea of what time or days i could play a game.
Good luck everyone, and may the best team win (as long as that teams not Chelsea :lol: )
