Probelm with farscape using a oritron player

I just got the first farscape box set and it does not work with my oritron 600. If u select any the options on screen it comes up with the wormhole bit and goes black. I heard I can get a upgrade disc, I looked on the oritron site and it says to contact the suppiler but currys says they don't know what I'm talking about

any advice?

Oh dear.... someone has bought an Oritron.
I nearly bought one myself (cos i could get it for £80).Fortunately i seached fro reviews first.

If you do a web search on Oritron players you will find the highest nember of negative reviews from owners i have ever seen :eek:
You would be very lucky if this was your only problem with the Oritron.

If they will take it back for a refund, or swap it for a different player, that could be a good move.Try taking it in with that disc and show them it is faulty.

This is the only problem I've had with the oritron, I have over 20 dvds and they all work fine (apart from farscape). I'm not sure if they will take it back as I brought it last december

Press Menu twice this should show you the firmware version, if it's 003 or 004 you need to get the firmware upgrade CD from Dixons MasterCare. (some people have said Currys had the upgrade discs in store a while back)

Current firmware version last time I checked was 005 this sorts out most of the problems with the Oritron 600. (inc problems with, Terminator and Dinosaur, not sure about Farscape but it's worth a try)

You will find that almost all reviews and comments about the Oritron 600 on the web are about the US model.
The US model has firmware 002 which can't be upgraded and it's very buggy. It also only supports composite video.

The UK model supports RGB Scart (auto detected) and is said to be able to do standards conversion.

I went to the store today, spoke to a techincan and they upgraded the software on my player and farscape is working now :clap:
