Seems like a real bargain, as the cheapest elsewhere online is a whopping £43.95 at Filmnight (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://scripts.affiliatefuture.com/AFClick.asp^QS^affiliateID=17278^QA^merchantID=582^QA^programmeID=1979^QA^mediaID=0^QA^tracking=).

Good price, paid about that much for my Dutch Season 8 Boxset last month, good to see the prices dropping in the UK even if it has taken 8 months.

OK a question for all you knowledgeable people. I have S1,2,3,5,6,8 on Region 1. Is the packaging for Region 2 similar?

The R2 sets are simply the individual volumes held in a cardboard case. I believe that the R1's are the same? Although I think the R1's are only five discs... the R2 sets are six.

That's correct. I have region 1 of 1-3 but now get R2 versions when they are cheap. I paid £15 for the R1's and I am fed up of waiting for cheaper R1 seasons. I won't pay more than £25 for any of them.

they have been under £18 (£17.79 at the moment) at dvd Pacific for awhile now. including season 7.

Do not forget that although the extras are the same on R1 and R2 overall they are on different seasons so with a mixture of R1 and R2 boxsets some extras will be duplicated and some possibly missing..

the price drop is probably due to the R1 being released - shame DVDsoon have turned to the dark side as its only £15 there

Do you mean the R1 release of Season 8? as that was just released but Season 7 has been available in the US for awhile now.

Went for it at dvdpacific in the end, as (a) not in a hurry so dont mind the extra shipping time, (b) its about £2 less than amazon and (c) it will match my other boxsets :dork:

It must only have dropped down in price in the last few weeks as i checked regularly not so long ago.

Reviews for it appeared during October 2004 to Feburary 2005 of the ones I have read.

It was released October 19, 2004.

Amazon probably just have a re-released cheaper price date.

I haven't yet bought any of the Stargates - Is there any advantage buying region 1 over region 2 ?

Regards

Tet

Not as far as i'm aware.

The extras are on different sets so keeping to one or the other is probably best. I have the 1-3 on R! and 4-6 on R2. R2 are split over an extra disc so the picture quality may be better.

There isn't mcuh to choose between R1 and R2. There are more discs in R1 as there are less episodes per disc. There are usually 5 discs on R2 and 6 on R1. The extras are the same but maybe in different seasons compared to the R2's.

The picture is better on R2 for the later seasons. I found R1 to be better picture quality for the early seasons. I got R1 of S1 to S3 and R2 for the others. The picture quality of the early R2's seasons were not that great.

It's the other way around -- six discs for R2, five for R1.

The boxsets can be cheaper in R1 I managed to get Seasons 1-4 for less than £17 each including postage. If your're bothered about the extras it's best not to mix and match as you could end up with extras from an earlier season in R1 appearing in a later seaon of R2.
