Saw this last night and came out thinking that it was nowhere near as good as Happiness but the more I think about it the more I like it. The two halves of the story are disparate but still work together and I think Solondz was very clever in the way he used the 'fiction' and 'non-fiction' tags to develop the characters and the story.

Excellent dialogue and certainly a film that pulls a wedgie up the backside of American society but maybe a little bit too much of an attempt to shock? Maybe?

Definitely worth a watch though IMHO.

I loved it - for me, Solondz can do no wrong. You're right that it's probably there primarily to shock, but at the same time it manages to be a terrific movie and for me the two things don't usually go together (Natural Born Killers... yuk).

I love black comedies - I laughed out loud all the way through Storytelling and it certainly took a while for the rest of the audience's guards to lay down. I got some strange looks in the meantime, mind you.

Now I'm wondering what made Solondz cut the third story from the movie... a prime opportunity for DVD release there.
