How to download from BBC

I've been trying to download one or two shows from the BBC website for my Ipod. However, when I click on the links to download, it opens Quicktime and simply plays the show. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you looked at the FAQ on the BBC site -

Also not all shows are available for download, here's the current list -

You could just record the show onto your computer by using something like Total Recorder (it has a scheduler ie a timer, and it's pretty cheap) -

The BBC largely stream content via their player rather than allow widespread downloading (apart from the trial above and a few shows). BBC Radio Ripper will rip a stream for you and 1 of the download managers (forget which) will save rtsp streams.

Thanks, but it is specifcally Fighting Talk from radio 5 that, according to this link here, you should be able to download. However, it just opens Quicktime and plays the show again.

Thanks...pretty obvious I guess! That does work. I was in fact following the BBC's own instructions, which say you just click on it and it gives you some opttions, but it doesn't work as they suggest.

Most of the BBC shows that are available for download you can get as podcasts through iTunes. Subscribing to them might be easier than going to the site each time. :)

sadly, most of the really good Radio 4 shows are NOT available to download ... :(
