I'm thinking about buying this for my parents for Christmas. It's £199 pounds but for that you get obviously a DVD player but also with a built in DD5.1 and DTS amp, 5 speakers and a sub. The closest unit I can find to this one is something like a Sony at £499. I've managed to find a hack that will disable M/R and macrovision, but for £199 I can't help but think that it may not perform that well.

Has anyone had any experience with this player? What is the picture and sound quality like? Do the speakers give good surround effects? You no the sort of info i'm after :) . Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

Bought this model for £170 - and not a bad price too:D

Not a bad machine at all, surround sounds good (not quite loud enough for me) - although it fill most rooms.

VCD palyback, bu suspect on cdr's. not tried cdrw as yet or indeed mp3.

Not a bad machine at all. Code our for multiregion and demacro.

What more can you want for £200? The grundig from currys is the same spec and codes etc.

Cheers Marny for the reply. Sounds like a good buy, but where did you get it for £170?
