Whilst browsing the threads,I saw somebody called the 'Wicker-man',and I recall when I bought the same film, the hoots of derision, when I told my workmates I had purchased it.
Am I normal to love this film,-the way the music is,etc etc,or am I surely just a sad man.
Please somebody just tell me they love this film as well.

As it's one of the most influential and stylish British horror films of the 1970s, and even better in the director's cut, I don't think you're alone in your appreciation for it!!!

As channel 4 are showing the directors cut of the film over Xmas i'll finally get the chance to check it out for myself - can't wait! :D

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one to find the music disturbing, especially the opening tune over the credits while Howie is flying to the island. It seems perfectly innocuous before you've seen the film but somehow strangely sinister afterwards.

Anyway, it's a great film and the extended version is so much better than the usual chopped about version that gets shown.

Watched it for the first time ever last week.

Ordered it after listening to commertary on league of gentelmen 2 saying how much they liked it. Are you local etc

The music is great the best bit being the maypole dance.

£18 from dvdboxoffice for the 2 disc wooden box set very scary =]

Don't know ifthis has been mentioned, but there is a TV prog on after Christmas on CH 4, Cult Of The Wickerman. The Wickerman is on the next night, so I assume the prog is about the people who love it and why.:)

Wonder which version they'll be showing? Seeing as the 2-disk box set doesn't actually feature the full cut this could be interesting......

Brilliant film. Superb atmosphere. Horrific ending.

'Corn rigs and barley rigs and, corn rigs are bonnie.
I'll not forget that happy night, among the rigs with Annie.'

My girlfriend Anne nearly went mad when I wouldn't stop singing this to her :D

Well the "full cut" is currently buried under the M6 as land fill.

The doc is on C4 at 0:20 on Sunday 30th December called "Burnt Offering - The Cult of the Wicker Man" and Digiguide info tells us:

"Mark Kermode presents a documentary on the myth and the making of the cult 1973 film 'The Wicker Man'. Panned by critics on release, it has slowly become a cinematic phenomenon. The late Anthony Shaffer reveals how his screenplay was inspired by an interest in pagan rituals. And Director Robin Hardy describes the troubled shoots, the lawsuits and savage recutting of his film
(Subtitles)"

The directors cut of the film is on the next night at 23.40.

So, it's on New Year's Eve. Must remember to set the video. Cheers guys. I've not seen it in ages. I can't even remember Britt's dancing scene it's been that long.

And in the band Seafood's new album, they do a cover of Willows Song!

Anyways, this film is my favourite horror film, no cheapness, no fantasy just pure creepiness!

You are 100% normal. This movie is one of the most effective British movies ever made, with a distinguished cult following behind it. A butchered masterpiece.

The sequel to this fine film by Robin Hardy "Cowboys For Christ", starring Christopher Lee, has been delayed yet again. It was finally due to start filming this month, but apparently one of the investors has been wiped out by the credit crunch. Hope that they are able to make it soon. It's supposed to the 2nd part of a trilogy.
