View Full Version : What's the best excuse you use with the missus to spend so much time on PES?

Now the wait is almost over for the new incarnation, I'm preparing the blather to pacify SWMBO.

Has anyone got any top tips on how to sidetrack the lady in your life? Or man.

I haven't got any days left to take off work but can take care of that. It's mostly the time to spend practising and taking part in the mostly-evening-based tourneys that's going to be the source of the most anguish.

Help-me-do! You will be rewarded with smug satisfaction at Everton-like drubbings of my good self!

Or the tack I take. Sit down with her and ask her if there is anything you can do to help her relax. Usually they say nothing and that they’ll watch telly or whatever and tell you to do what you want.

At that point you run off and say you told me to do this so I’m doing what you told me.

Just try to spend a couple of days a week with her. From my experience, this is mandatory as otherwise PES widow syndrome kicks in and she kicks off and screans and shouts

Yeah, the principle obligation I have at the moment is to my photography course. Unfortunately that's kinda sponsored by work so I need to spend a bit of time with that.

All in all it basically looks like I need to dump her and focus on the important things in life.

Cheers for your tips, despite them being useless.

Can be tough satisfying the Shiela and playing in Pro Ev tournies and looking after a young family.

I find it best reading through the TV Times a week in advance and taking a note of all the Sheila programmes. Soaps, soppy stuff, chick flicks etc. I can then arrange my games when the tripe is on the TV ;)

A big no no is ignoring the sheila even if you are in the middle of a game. I flipped whilst playing Belly in the league last night as I was getting grief about an unformatted DVD disk she was trying to use to tape some rubbish on one channel whilst watching rubbish on another. Got 2 hrs on Pro Ev followed by a 24hr silence

It's easy really. Have two young kids that mean we are up at least once per night and sleep is at a premium in the household. Missus is knackered and goes to bed by 10pm for some sleep. I need far less sleep (only 6 hours per night) which leaves a couple of hours to my own devices (usually some gaming).

I just tell the Missus I am the organiser of the whole league and don't want to let people down.

Haven't told her I handed the whole thing over to Bolch , Belly and Dazkelly a few months ago :D
