View Full Version : Question About Different RAM?
Am upgrading my PC soon, at the moment i have 1GB of PC2700 333 DDR, and would probably like to get another GB with the upgrade, the question is, will 1 GB stick of PC2700 work with another 1GB stick of PC3200 RAM?? As i would like to get the faster RAM now (400hmz), but dont really want to waste the 1 GB i already have??

I can't answer your question but have a look here crucial memory (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-5032657^QS^url=http%3A//www.crucial.com/kb/) they have lots of good explanations about memory.
It should work fine, but both sticks will only run at the lower PC2700 speed.
Yeah thats what i thought, can you actually notice any big difference between PC2700 or PC3200?? Say it i got another 1GB of PC2700, would that be better/fast than me just change the whole lot for just 1GB of PC3200??

The main problem you'll have is that the RAM and CPU speeds will be out of step which will result in a drop in performance, by how much I can't say. I would say get the fastest RAM you can afford at the moment and then replace the 1gb PC 2700 at some stage or even better get 2Gb (2 * 1gb sticks) of PC3200 right now and sell the 1gb RAM PC2700.
