I have just got a cheapo 1 port router from Ebuyer, which connects to a wireless (cable) router which we are only using as a switch basically.
Is there any way i can make them act as one or something, as i am having serious problems with port forwarding (in that i dont seem to be able to do it!)
I'm not entirely sure whether i should be doing something with the routing tables etc...

Any help would be much appreciated...

Can you ping the router from the switch ? i.e. you have used the right cable to connect the two haven't you ?

I guess you've got DHCP set up on the router... have you disabled it on the wireless router ?

if so... you should be able to go in to the single port router web configuration and just forward the right ports to the designated IP's...

Heh, bizarrely I've just set this all up at home. And I suspect I've the same cheapo router.

For port forwarding, all the settings must be on the modem/router.

Take a look at www.portforwarding.com

Had it enabled on both, just turned it off on the wireless router and then couldnt connect to the wireless network at all as my computer wasnt getting an address...

Are your 2 routers on different subnets?

For example.
Router 1 has an IP address of 192.168.0.1
Router 2 has an IP address of 192.168.2.1

Router 1 is connected to your ADSL socket.
Router 2 is connected to Router 1.

Router 1 should be connected to Router 2 via a IP address such as 192.168.0.2
(Router 2 should tell you this in it's config page)

To use port forwarding, all the ports in Router 1 should be forwarded to 192.168.0.2 so that everything is forwarded to your Router 2.

You then need to set up the port forwarding on Router 2 so that it goes to the IP addresses that your PCs are using.
