Whats the best region for La Haine, with anamorphic picture as the most important feature?

After reading this forum several (many) months ago, I decided against rushing out into HMV to buy the UK release and ordered the French version instead.... big mistake.......it is very difficult to locate... have ordered on several european web sites... to no avail. Unfortunately, my local HMV has now run out of copies of UK release... Sometimes it's better to go for second best!

The French version did go out of print for a short while, while a repressing was done - this should be easy to get (I ordered in from Amazon.fr today) - said it'll ship within 24 hours.

Cost would be 15 quid from Amazon - less if you can nab a 50FF off voucher)

Whats the Tartan release like? Anamorphic?? Its only the film that matters on this one, not too bothered about which has better extras, just decent A&V.

The Tartan release is appawling its the subtitles that are all messed up, they've burned them in white, and once displayed amidst the backdrop of the black and white picture its damn near impossible to read them at numerous moments of the film.
I WARN YOU TO STAY CLEAR AS IT RUINS THE VIEWING OF THE FILM!

I had no problems ordering La Haine from Amazon.fr recently (with 50FF coupon. Nice!).

The anamorphic picture is excellent as is the DD5.1 audio. Removable sub-titles fit the film well and are easy to read. The only bummer is that the extras, including two doco's and commentary are French only, which is to be expected, I suppose.

Great Film!

Now looking forward to The Crimson Rivers (Les rivière pourpres) with Vincent Cassell and Jean Reno. Dunno which version is best but there is a 2-disk due out in R4 in Feb. This is probably the one to go for as it is sure to be the cheapest.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go with the French release, if I can get hold of one!!! How much did it work out at in £££ from Amazon? and do they take Visa Electron??
