Finally saw my first Dario Argento film last night, Suspiria on Anchor Bay DVD, and first let me say what a great transfer it was, especially considering its age.

I was mostly impressed by the film too, it was visually stunning, some great suspense sequences and what a great score! But the plot... I understand that you don't watch Dario Argento's films for the plots but there are still a few questions I'd like answered:

Who dunnit for one thing? Unless I missed it, the film never tells you who the killer with the knife is. And why was a knife even necessary, if the witches can kill with their powers? And why did they kill the blind man? And where did the maggots come from? And why was there a room full of barbed wire in a ballet school? And why would it be in the interests of the owners of a ballet school to kill off their rich, paying students? And why would a witch want to start up a ballet school in the first place? I think I need some of these answered before I can even consider moving on to Inferno.

Ha Ha!! Are you trying to suggest there are plot holes in a Dario Argento film?

Slightly OT - does anybody know if either Suspiria or Inferno have been released with decent DD tracks? Note the word 'decent'. Cheers :D

Have you checked out the Anchor Bay releases? Suspiria has one of the best Dolby Digital tracks I've ever heard, and the Inferno track is pretty excellent too.

As for the plot holes in Suspiria... don't let it be said that Argento ever lets logic interfere with a visually outstanding set-piece! Just forget your questions - because you will have *far* more arising after watching Inferno...it's much more illogical than Suspiria! :D Don't let that out you off though, it's a great, great film!
