Dear God...
Limp Bizkit are set to cover The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' for an upcoming best-of compilation.
The band will merge the song with their version of Motley Crue's 'Home Sweet Home' for the career-spanning collection.
The album, titled 'Greatest Hits' is set for a November 7 release and will feature a further two previously unheard tracks - 'Lean On Me' and 'Why' - alongside hits such as 'Nookie', 'Rollin', 'Break Stuff' and 'N 2 Gether Now'.
According to Billboard, no songs have been included from Limp Bizkit's recent EP 'The Unquestionable Truth', which fell out of the Billboard 200 after just four weeks.

There ruining two songs for the price of one with this tune.
The band will merge the song with their version of Motley Crue's 'Home Sweet Home'
This way they offend the old skool metalers as well as the indie kids.

The Verve didn't cover a Rolling Stones song. They used a bit of music the Stones owned. Anyway, they didn't earn any royalties from the single.

Just to be :dork: it wasn't actually a Stones sample though. It was from one of those London philharmonic plays the best of the Rolling Stones records.
Ok, this is purely my take on it, but surely it's a bit harsh calling Fred Durst all the names under the sun for something that may not even have had anything to do with him?
Granted whoever thought of it, I don't think it's a wise move, you don't screw with other peoples stuff, especially a classic like that. But seriously people, get a grip, if you don't like it, fine. Doesn't warrant everyone calling Fred Durst every name under the sun!

So I'm assuming that if I just called The Pixies, New Order, Primal Scream, Kraftwerk, Super Furry Animals, The Who, Chemical brothers, the Fall, Husker Du and Bowie all [EDIT]s just because I don't like them, you are ok with that?
Great.
Who care's if his style is different to others? There are quite clearly people out there that really like him and the bands music. Fair enough, I can see how a decent discussion could start about how people disagree about the likes and dislikes of music, but to purely enter a thread to call Fred Durst whatever is just childish imo.
Apologies if it seems like I'm having a rant. It just hacks me off when someone waltzes into a post calling someone a name. No reason, no justification.

I love The Verve but I've always thought the same. It's funny how some bands are popular and famous because of songs that aren't actually there best efforts (or are actually 'crap' as you so eloquently put it).

Booby Gillespie and Mark E Smith can be a right you know whats at times too.
I can live with that they make good records.
Like i said in the earlier post. Look up some of the wit and wisdom of Mr Durst. Especially his opinions on women.
He's a grade A idiot.
You have your opinions, I have mine. We could go on all day. It's always been the same with this forum, always things in the extreme. I like to call Limp Bizkit a 'marmite' band. Love them or hate them.
On this occassion though, methinks I will agree to disagree.

The man 'acidentley' leaks amature porn of him shagging groupies. I'm standing by every bad word said about him.
I started chuckling as I read the first post. Then I got to the Motley Crue bit. The laughter ended there. :(
At the end of the day, this is a thread about the music and their Greatest Hits compilation. Not about the man himself.

It's more that it's a long, monotonous song that goes absolutely nowhere and has been played to death. The album from which it comes is one of the most overrated that I've heard.
I don't mind some earlier Verve stuff, but give me Spiritualized anyday.

Shouty nonsense for roomy-trousered adolescents.
Wonder if Durst ever got over Britney marrying someone else (the big jessie)?
This way they offend the old skool metalers as well as the indie kids.
Not me, HSH is one of the worst songs the Crue ever recorded.

Disagree, It's a blinder, all the psychedelia and druggyness of their earlier stuff mixed into beautiful ballads.
Back on topic, I couldn't care less if melon head covers it. The original will still be there, fred durst won't be, hopefully.
Not me, HSH is one of the worst songs the Crue ever recorded.
Heathen! Its a ballad and a half! You want some bad Crue tunes go look at Generation Swine :D

I know. How dare they do that to the Crue.
that may not even have had anything to do with him?
Because of course Fred Durst has no say with the evil record company at all does he... *ahem*
Anyway, dissing Fred Durst is fun.
Anyway, dissing Fred Durst is fun.
How adult :oh-hum:
Saying that though, I *think* they are still at Interscope aren't they? If that's the case it's prolly one of his musical mates that run it and ended up agreeing with Freds suggestion :D
Anyway, on topic. Personally I was never a fan of Motley Crue, I'm a fan of more modern, metal styles. But I'm keen to hear it.

Land of Confussion is just about memorable because it had the Spitting image video.
Fred and the boys come from the Sterophonics school of "how to get under peoples skin" and I love em :D
:D Bish and I think alike.
Just think if there was no Limp Bizkit which shouty nonsense rock band would you all have to annually whinge about? Puddle of Mudd and Linkin Park haven't done much for ages. Stereophonics last album wasn't too bad so can't complain much there, so i think this is a good thing.
This news rallies round the usual muso forum members for a jolly good ol' moan and excessive use of the :oh-hum: :oh-hum:

Got hold of those covers now thanks. They are pretty good. The shout one is better because I actually know the song! My friends take the mick cos I collect weird/dodgy/different covers. I have about 6 or 7 versions of The Cures "Just like heaven" and The Kingsmen "Louie Louie".
At one point me and a covers loving friend were talking about hiring a smallish local club and putting on a once a month covers night. Who wouldn't want to listen to a country version of "girlfriend in a coma" or REM play "I will survive" or a punk rock version of the theme from The Likely Lads?

I'd be willing to check it out as long as its, (excuse the language) ****** up enough.
Saying all this though I hate pointless copycat covers or covers of songs that are perfect to begin with.
Worst covers of all time for me are:
Bryan Ferry doing Screaming Jay Hawkins "I put a spell on you"
Rod Stewart doing Tom Waits "Downtown train"
2 classic songs murdered.

You're spot on about the Rod Stewart, but I must disagree here - I love almost all of Ferry's covers and I Put A Spell On You is a pretty great example of how to smooth up a sinister classic. The original's better, true, but there's something about the Bryan's cocktail lounge style that really makes it work.
Oh, and Limp Bizkit? I quite liked that Mission: Impossible 2 one. But then, I quite liked Mission: Impossible 2, so what do I know?

Just heard this on B4, not as bad as I thought it would be, not a huge amount of Bittersweet Symphony is used and isn't obviously recognisable thank god!
Yeah it's not that bad to be honest, it's better than I thought it would be and it would have made a decent B-side or album track. The video is just a montage of their other videos which isn't a surprise as it's promoting a "best of" package.
