Thanks chaps :)

Surprisingly enough, these were all taken with the lens that I have been 'having problems' with, and if I'm not mistaken, at least 3 of them are at 300mm@f5.6 (Wide open), so I would have expected them to be out of focus or soft.
Looks like my 'tests' could very well be user error after all.
I think the only one that might be 250mm or something is the swan.
Nope, just checked, and that's 300mm f8.0.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Regards

Excellent pics :D Particularly the Orangs

I know you were the one there etc but just in case you got your notes muddled up, are you sure the first one is a snake? Looks more like a lizard to me.

first one looks like a monitor lizard, brilliant shot all the same, as are the rest

Could very well be, I'm crap at animals :D

Thread title duly edited :D Now, how can I erase the evidence?

Some cracking shots there :) Out of curiosity what was the lens?

Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro.
Oops, forgot to say, the first one is via the 18-55 kit lens. @25mm I think.

I keep coming back to this thread just to look at the Orangatangs...!

You ought to try to get this in print somewhere - send it to some photography mags I reckon...

All are excellent but like the others the Orangs shot is brilliant! I love the Seal as well. Nice work! :)

I thought that it was you with the Sigma thread. Well the pictures have certainly come out crystal clear. Very good results

You should get Sigma to pay you for putting them images up. I was thinking of ways I could afford something much more expensive but I think I might kick off with one of these lenses now!

[slightly off topic but hey ...]

Out of interest for those wanting a comparison through the range between a few "budget" lenses in the 70-300 range have a look at some test shots I posted here - a while back ...
