View Full Version : Picture Repair- Willing to pay for the service, can PS masters assist?
Hi
My grandmother is nearing the end of her life and my aunt has looked after her for the past 25 years.... anyway, her favorite pic of my nan has basically deteriorated over the years, it is a 7x5 or 6x4 I think, and has what looks like had some water splashes on it which has discoloured some little areas on the picture. she doesn't have the negative of the picture unfortunately.
I was thinkin that it maybe could be scanned, and then some company could use photoshop to fix it...
Is there anyone here that offers the service or knows of a company that deals with this type of thing?
If anyone can help I am willing to pay obviously and hope that I can get it sorted for me aunt.
cheers

that's a really kind, thoughtful thing to do, ian.
i'm sure if you posted a hi res scan here, a few people would be willing to have a go for free.
As said people here would probably be happy to give it a go. Where do you live maybe someone could scan it in if you don't have a scanner.

Why not pick up a cheap scanner, scan the picture and post a link here. I'm sure some of us would have a go at it for free (or a small donation to the Forum Charity Fund). You then have a scanner which you can keep or sell as you see fit

Apologies for a slight hi-jack of this thread, but a very old friend of mine recently found a print of one of her wedding photos which she thought had all been lost. Main problem it has is creases. I'm using it to hone my PS skills but at the moment they are pretty minimal (the skills I mean !)
I will gladly make a donation to the forum charity drive if anyone can produce a nice printable image from this. Scanned at 2400 dpi and saved as .jpg with no compression.

What's "silly"?
FWIW my company also do photo restoration and pics such as focus3's involve a great deal of work (and more importantly for the final invoice, time). I'm certainly surprised by the prices on the imagerestore site mentioned earlier - they seem absurdly cheap though the kicker is of course "from £25" for more complex jobs. At least £25 per hour of work I suspect, because that's the absolute minimum we do such work for.
