I know that Leconcepts do the Vivanco for £29.99, but I was wondering if there were any other convertors available that convert coax digital to optical digital (toslink). One that could be battery powered would be particularly good.

I've looked at most of the usual online hifi/AV suppliers, but leconcepts are the only ones who seem to have a converter - there must be more than one model out there!

Can anyone help?

CPC do one for £12.61+VAT

Order code is AV03254

The optical > coax is £14.67+VAT (AV03255)

Both need an external 6V power supply, which isn't supplied - I used a regulated variable DC adapter for £4.88+VAT (PW00404) (but you need a different jack plug).
When you order, they should tell you that it needs an external power adapter - they suggest one (but that wasn't in stock when I ordered), which is about £6+VAT

The fact that it needs an external DC power adapter, obviously means that you could use it battery powered if you wanted to.

I use the coax > optical version on my Nokia STB - it seems to work fine.

They are slightly smaller than a 20 cigarette pack (about halfway between a 10pack and a 20pack).

I got one of these last week from maplin (code QN17) for £14.99 so i could connect the PC coax out to AMP optical in (My dvd player uses the amps only coax in - shame on you denon).
Works a treat and 6v powerpack is included. Also got a 1m optical cable for £3.99 from Homebase diy.
