**Sorted now, thanks for looking**
I tried to do a clean install of windows XP pro yesterday to upgrade from XP home which was installed on the dell, I downloaded the drivers from the dell site and used them to create a floppy disc for the installation of the drivers. When I was doing the install it took the floppy and I selected the AHCI option as I have 2 SATA drives installed but not in RAID. It then went on to format the hdd but before it started the windows install it said that the disc was damaged but it's a brand new disc that I just created with the software from the dell site, anyone got any ideas? i had to use the dell OS disc to reinstall as it wouldn't go past that point without it. So before I use the dell software to create another disc I thought i'd check her first to see if someone had programe that they know works. If you hadn't guessed i'm not clued up on these SATA driver things ;)
