Hi.

I have been looking into getting an easy to use, pretty good quality camera and the above seems to stand out a little.

Also looked at the Casio Exilim EX-Z500BK, and the Fuji FinePix Z1 Zoom, but the Canon is the one I think I prefer because of the higher pixels ( although I know this doesn't mean its a good camera, which is why I'm asking you! )

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers.

I believe most of the Ixus range gets a good write-up and if the Ixus 40 (which my wife has) is anything to go by, then it should be a good camera. The 40 is also highly recommended on these forums too, although there has been a lot of talk about the Casio lately.

We have the IXUS 700, bought this spring.
Very very good indeed, superb resolution and very long battery life.
Also does pretty good video with sound.
You'll probably want to buy an extra memory card tho.
1 Gb card in mine give room for about 1000 shots at full res.

What about the Casio Z750 , takes movies in MPEG4 , large screen as well, i think it has the most manual features out of the compact cameras out.

There were a few pic problems but the new firmware sorted that out :)

I think Canons argreat cameras but overpriced and they all have that anoying niggle of no battery indicator it only pops up about 10 mins b4 it goes dead.

Thanks for the adivce guys. I hadn't considered the Casio 750, looks good! Now my desicion is even harder.

I have asked my brother in Dubai to check on the prices there, hopefully there will be a worthwhile saving to justify him carrying it back here for me!
