I am having problems logging into my yahoo email account on my pc at home. My wife and daughter can quite happily log into their accounts but when I attempt to do the same I get a file download box appear (although nothing seems to be downloading), then it gives an error message saying it cannot find the file. Now I can log into my account on pc's here at work with no problem, so can someone tell me what might be causing the problem. It only happens on my account on my home pc so is it possible that my email account is being blocked by something on my pc???????

Can you log into your wifes Yahoo account? Couldn't quite make out if you've tried that or not. I presume your trying different PC accounts when you do this?
When you say a download box appears, does it mention what its trying to download? (what file is it?)
What browser are you using? If IE6, have you tried Firefox? (and vice versa)
Is this yahoo.co.uk or yahoo.com?

Yes I can log into my wife and daughters yahoo accounts, but not mine, however I have had instances when I seem to have got into my email account, as I can view my contacts, but as soon as I try to go into my mail box I get the same problem. A file download dialogue box pops up. It does not list a coherrant file name, but the % downloaded does not show anything and then it bombs out. This only happens on my account. I am using yahoo.co.uk but have also tried going in via yahoo.com but get the same result.
The fact is that I can log into this mail account on any other pc but my own.... very bizarre

What browser are you using? Any chance of a screenshot of the file download box?
(use imageshack.us if you need an image hosted)

Using explorer 6. Will try and get a screen shot.
I, too, have had this problem in IE6 and in Firefox.
For IE6, goto Tools/Options/Advanced and deselect the Use Http 1.1 settings. Click Apply, then OK.
Close the browser and then retry. That should do the trick.
Can anyone advise how to deal with this problem in Firefox?
