"Now with a bigger price tag to make you think the Micro is a bargain"

totally agree, the initial GBA was awful but the SP is pretty spot on I'ld have thought. Sounds like they are determined to squeeze every last ounce of profit out of the GBA....

cat: I doubt it, its probably cheaper for them to use backlit screens over the frontlit ones. As they are already buying them in bulk for the GB Micro they probably got a good deal for the SP size screens.

It's nice, the screen is a lot sharper and doesn't feel washed out at all - comes with AstroBoy free in Japan.

Mr Spew: Are you not getting confused with the GB Micro there ? Which I believe comes with a free copy of AstroBoy from certain retailers.

D'oh! I thought you were all talking about the Micro! Just presumed you were without looking at the link, haha.

Well I don't see any problem with Nintendo updating their hardware with better components in this way? What's not to like!

It's not a bad thing really, as they're not pushing it as the all new SP: Bright Edition with a marked up RRP. If anything it's something better for no extra cost for those who don't have an SP yet.

All I'm saying is it certainly wouldn't be something to trade in your current SP to get!

I just placed an order for the SP2 at DVD Box Office (http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/start.asp?description.asp?z=1&qs=1&class=gme&pid=90143799). The description still says 'frontlit' but when I contacted them they said it is the new backlit version.
I contacted Nintendo Netherlands and they said it won't be released there until next year.

All user reports say that the difference in screen brightness is quite significant.
