I've just started scanning in my photo collection, for posterity and viewing on the big screen TV.
Could somebody point me to a decent primer on scratch and dust removal. I'm shocked at how badly many of my negatives are scratched. I guess I didn't take particularly good care of them because I didn't think about wanting them later on.
What do people use, photoshop? GIMP? Irfanview?
How about preparing negatives for scanning? Do you use compressed air? If so, how? A can of it? some kind of small air compressor?
