View Full Version : [PC] The Season 7 Opt in/out thread - Draw over, Tables coming soon!

If you're currently playing Season 6 I'm going to assume you're in for Season 7

Please post below if you're opting out of Season 7 or are an oldie wanting in on Season 7.

Doing this now to get some kind of idea of the numbers. A quick recap of what Season 7 entails....

1) We will be using only the best teams (based on stats) in the league.
2) All divisions will use the same pool of decent teams
3) In addition to the normal tables there will be a "Team" table. You are fighting to win your division, aswell as to gather points for your Team. For example...

Prem
----
John316 / Liverpool - P3 W2 D1 L0 - 7 points
Barlow / Juventus - P3 W2 D0 L1 - 6 points
Br00n / Man Utd - P3 W1 D1 L1 - 4 points

Division 1
---------
Bigjohn / Juventus - P3 W2 D1 L0 - 7 points
Matt.Wild / Man Utd - P3 W2 D0 L1 - 6 points
Dazkelly / Liverpool - P3 W1 D1 L1 - 4 points

Division 2
---------
Babyjonny / Man Utd - P3 W2 D1 L0 - 7 points
Loates123 / Juventus - P3 W2 D0 L1 - 6 points
Chet-Lee / Liverpool - P3 W1 D1 L1 - 4 points

Division 3
---------
H.Floyd / Liverpool - P3 W2 D1 L0 - 7 points
******* / Man Utd - P3 W2 D0 L1 - 6 points
Moko / Juventus - P3 W1 D1 L1 - 4 points

TEAM TABLE
------------
Team Man U - P12 W7 D2 L3 - 23 Points
Team Juventus - P12 W7 D2 L3 - 23 Points
Team Liverpool - P12 W6 D4 L2 - 22 Points

Make Sense?

Inorder for this to work we can't have ANY dropouts as it would **** up other Team Members. So if you're thinking of ditching PES4 in the coming weeks please make sure you post to say you don't want in this competition.

As said in the other thread there's a possibility that numbers will screw us over as we need an even number of players in each division for this to work so we may have to drop to 3 tables but with more players in each table.

As long as it's done and dusted at least as close to the release as 5 as possible - It's going to be tricky to get people playing the old version, when the new spangly edition turns up ;)

In the current league is 37 players. Ono & Soundstyle dropped out.

I'm going to assume Tob isn't signing up, Koranja I won't put in as we need people who will play puts us to 33 (or 3 x 11)

Don't know if Jabra is in this. Also spoke to a couple of oldtimers about making a comeback for this. Hope to have clearer numbers in a couple of days.

As I'm pulling out of season seven, want to say a few things.

Bolch, I just want to clarify my post on the superleague thread, as I think my post was being misread.

What I said was IF it was the case that hornsteve had been using two people to play the same games (and I stressed that there was no proof. I did ask him on MSN politely - but he ignored me and promptly went offline), then I personally would not be happy playing in that league.

It wasn't a "him or me" ultimatum or anything like that.

It wasn't an attempt to influence any decision or anything like that, and I hoped (thought) I had worded it carefully enough to make that clear.

I apologise if that was not the case.

There are plenty of things I would like to say about my perceptions of exactly what has gone wrong here, but as it has been a great close season with everyone playing their games on time, and a very exciting league, I am not going to.

I just plead with people to remember the guy who came in towards the end of last season, finished 14 games in a week, and acquitted himself well in this season.

However, there is a big difference between banter, and deliberately winding people up.

After all, it was way back when i was having PC problems at the start of the season that Hornsteve was onto me regularly on MSN reminding me with glee that i was going to get kicked out of the league if I didn't get my arse into gear.

That was the first contact I had with him - and to be honest that attitude from someone i never even met before wound me up right away.

I play the game for fun, and when due to fellow players it is not fun anymore, then I want out.

It is also a shame when you cannot express an opinion, or make a joke, without the same person jumping down your throat all the time.

I would like to thank the div. 3 players for good games, and everyone for friendlies / superleague / helping me out with lag and PC problems. And thanks to the anonymous player who helped me out with windows. I hope you're reading this.

But, Bolch - I'm not going to get all sentimental here. But you do a great job. I hope you continue to do so. The main reason that i am quitting (and I love this game and league) is because me / hornsteve / lou are never going to get on (not all one sided either) and I don't want to be making your life a misery.

Have fun guys!

But you'll be back for the PES5 leagues yeah? :D

As I said - we'll defo be looking at putting rules in place to mitigate all eventualities (I'm getting our company law department onto it tomorrow). If that fails I am going to form an Imperial Senate to, no wait, I mean, a PES5 Committee to oversea disputes (we had one in the early years of PES4 on here).

Bolch
23-09-2005, 07:24
Hornsteve - Sure, no problem.

******* - You had a valid problem with what you found out and other people backed you up (316, Matt etc). I've not got a problem with that at all.

As far as I'm concerned I coudn't care who I play as I play the game for fun. If I took this game seriously I would

1) Play nothing but crosses
2) Play nothing but cutbacks
3) Foul everytime opponent got on the break
4) Chop down a player to prevent a 1 on 1
5) Time waste
6) Work out who needs to be thrown out in order to get higher up the table
7) Play a 6-3-1 formation
8) Hoof the ball up the pitch whenever I get it
9) Turn on downloads when I'd scored to give the other player lag
10) Complain about people giving preferential treatment

All of which I've seen arguments breakout on here about. :|

But for some people the need to win far out weighs the need to have fun playing. I pity these people as they're missing out on the most important aspect of the game imho. Hornsteve is not one of these people and it's this attitude I like.

However, I'm not going to ruin the game for people who play to win. I don't sit here moaning about players that do the above, I play my game against them. In that respect I believe you're right and 2 people shouldn't play under 1 name, it will "be in the rules" for PES5 but PES4 is almost over so no point implementing it now.

Your post did some across like an Ultimatum, that coupled with the "he's a prick" comment ****** me off last night (after working for 14 hours straight!) as I hate people arguing about a GAME for Christs sake. But I don't stay mad at people and will miss your enthusiasm and really hope you join in PES5 from the get go. With regards to the arguments that happened (and this goes for everyone) bear in mind something an old friend once told me - Never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experiance.

Most of the prem players?

Not at all, every division has players like that.

It's only really stuck out when playing Super League games and getting the chance to play everyone tbh. I'd say in the current Premiership there are 5 players who I enjoy everygame against thanks to the way they play.

Likewise of the people I've played in Division 3 half of them I love playing games against, the other half I shy away from because I find their style of play boring and irrating although I'd never berate them on a public forum for it.

Still say that any tactic is legitimate anyway - just plump a big centre-half in the middle of your defence and you can defend crosses easier...or just chop them down when they head for the corner flag :D

Another effective method is to 'show the attacker inside' which usually makes them cut in rather than out - if you catch me drift? :D

Matt.Wild
23-09-2005, 10:08
I’ve tried the push inside method. I’ve found it just leads to cut backs. Trick is to pack out the defence with about 90 players and then they are stuffed :D

Totally agree which is why I never say anything, although it can make the difference in how good the game is. Chasing someone who makes a wing break every 3 minutes doesn't make it a good game.

I agree with that, but I relate it to the real game, where playing against Bolton, isn't likely to provide you with as much entertainment as playing against a Man Utd (well last year maybe) or an Arse....all 3 teams are successful in their own ways, but play totally different football (well they did :D )

Just make two of the leagues a different number - they were this year anyway weren't they?

I'd suggest the Prem and Div 3 being the two with differing numbers, as they don't deal with promotion and relegation, in that order, and anyway season 8 is going to be a total restart anyway for PES5 isn't it?
