Can anyone tell me what might be the cause of the diagonal stripes (moire?) in the photo below, please?

This photo was taken on a Canon A95 digital camera. Strangely it is one of several taken at the same time, and not all the photos have the same artefact.

Ah, so digital cameras are sensitive to electrical interference then? I guess there are a fair few radio masts on top of the Empire State Building, so that might explain it.
