I saw Lord Litchfield on TV today, he said he has been shooting digitally for 6 years and that he uses Olympus gear. What digital Olympus would this be? There were some celebrity shots behind him which were approx 5 foot tall.

Probably that 4/3rds system (E-1) that has a 2x multiplier on the lenses. Not been particularly well recieved and I personally feel that ever since the advent of autofocus Olympus have basically lost the plot.
Baffled why Litchfield would use it when Canon and Nikons systems are vastly superior, especially with lens choice. Maybe money talks even when you have a load already.

Most of the stuff he shoots as far as I know is with a Hasselblad with a digital back. We're talking medium format 16mp or more stuff here. Out of Canon or Nikon's league ;)
I saw a programme on TV a year or so ago about professional studio photographers using digital backs on medium format for studio work. They save a huge amount of money that way which is why digital is so attractive. These things stream the shots in real time to a PC so there's no in camera memory involved, and it's instantly ready to go into Photoshop as soon as the shot is taken, and clients can see the results instantly.
Lichfield probably has some sponsorship thing with Olympus but I think historically he had early connections with them. Same with David Bailey who's a front man in their advertising campaigns.

It is the 4/3rd system which has not been particularly well received NOT the actual kit.
If you already have Canon or Nikon lenses then that seems the obvious way to go but if you are starting from scratch then the 4/3rd system is well worth a look.
The lenses are the first "Designed for digital" lenses on the market and they are among the best in the world. Yes, I agree the lens choice is not there at the moment ( 3 more about to be released this autumn ? ) but as for quality I have to say they are a damn fine match or even a nose ahead of the Canon or Nikon equivalents.
The 4/3 system was a brave venture which may still bite em on the bum but you cannot deny the build quality and useability of the kit, its top notch.
Just pick up an E1 and a Canon 350 or Nikon D70, ignore the namebadge and judge for yourself.

Can't say I've ever seen a particularly glowing review of any of the bodies and the E-300 regularly takes up the rear in any comparisons. High noise above ISO 400, slow operation and not the best IQ are all fundamental flaws.
There are a couple of interesting optics (150 and 300 for example) but the prices are ludicrous (£2000 and £5000) and the ranges wanted by amateurs are just not available.
Besides, who the hell would pay £700 for a 5mp body with a tiny sensor, and then spend £5000 on a lens for it? I just don't understand where Olympus are expecting to go with this one. The bodies suck for pro use and all but a couple of the lenses are unobtainable to the vast bulk of us mere mortals.
Put this down as another okay idea poorly implemented. I look back with total fondness for their OM 35mm system and I dreamed of owning a 4Ti, even when I had a Canon A1. Unfortunately, they have since failed on a fundamental level to grasp even AF (remember those crappy fixed lens SLR's?), let alone digital, on an SLR camera system.
Edit...Bloody hell!, just saw the 1.4x teleconvertor sells for £329.00!!!!!!!
I thought Canon was mugging us off but thats a hundred quid dearer.

Litchfield uses olympus (http://www.gordonpoole.com/speakers/LordLichfield.htm)
Does look like a bit of product placement though when you look at this (http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Interviews/Lichfield_interview.htm)
The mans a fraud, yesterday he said he hadnt used film for 6 years, here he says three.

Total product placement IMO. No way a professional fashion/portrait photographer uses a 5mp camera with a tiny sensor for anything other than holiday snaps.
