Hi I was hoping for someone to help me with a memory question.

I have an old ECS K7S5A motherboard which currently runs SDRAM and I want to switch to DDR instead.

I've looked at the specs of the board and it says I can run a maximum of 1GB DDR memory up to 266 MHz memory bus. I have seen a 1GB DDr memory stick for sale which is 1GB PC 2100/2700 DDR SDRAM 266/333 Mhz.

Does that mean that it will run at 333Mhz, therefore it won't work or does anyone think it will work and I should go for it???

All help appreciated..

That motherboard supports up to 1GB of RAM but does it only support this via 2 x 512MB sticks rather than 1 x 1GB stick as crucial don't list any 1GB sticks for that motherboard.

it will run at 266, the memory is backwards compatible with 266 but can run at 333. u can buy 3200 @400 which will also be backwards compatible with 266.

I have to say I only thought that both bays had to be filled using SDRAM, I'm probably wrong but I thought DDR on this board would take up to 1GB even if it is just one stick??

DDR only needs one bay, but not all motherboards support 1GB sticks so you might need to use 2 x 512MB
