As with the last World Cup, rather than do Prelims to get to 32 players, we'll have slightly more teams in a group than normal. With some groups potentially having more players than other groups.
If you're going to be away then depending on what dates you're away will determine wether I put you down for the draw or not.

Stadium: Clubhouse
Groupstages: home/away just like league.
Knockout Stages: home/away (away goals count)
2. MATCH SETTINGS
2.1 HOME (host) and AWAY (client) matches to be played between teams. In the knockout stages games will be played over 2 legs (home + away) with the aggregate score deciding who goes through. In the even of a draw start another 5 min game with penalties on and kick the ball about ensuring a draw so it goes to penalties. Then use the penalties to decide who advances
2.2 If someone cannot host then they can (via mutual agreement) play their HOME game as client.
2.3 Match settings are below:
Match Time: 10 min
Injuries: Yes
Max subs: 3 players
Extra Time: No
Penalties: No
Referee: Random
Player Condition: Random
Stadium: Clubhouse
Weather: Fine
All other settings at discretion of HOME team.
3. DISCONNECTED GAMES
3.1 If you are disconnected then you replay the match with the current scores added to the replayed match (For league purposes the first match is always deemed as a 1-0 scoreline).
e.g.
Team A winning 5-0 against Team B before disconnection.
Team A wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 4-0.
Team A winning 2-1 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-2 in replay.
Match result is 3-3 DRAW
Team A winning 2-0 before disconnection.
Team B wins 3-0 in replay.
Match result is 3-1 victory for Team B

im actually quite enjoying having a decent team for a change
played ono and his brazil last night 4 times ending up winning all 4 and scoring 3 or more in each game
4th game was quite funny i think ono had had enough of veiri as he was banging them in and to say he sythed him down was a understatement
im sure i saw him steaming at me on one of those ride on lawnmowers
took him out the game and prob the rest of his pro evo life lol
so i bought on del piero who quickley scored a hat trick lol

2 close games. Daz came back from 2-0 down in the 1st to clinch the draw.
2nd game, Daz grabbed the winner with only a few mins left on the clock, I had an opportinity to grab the equaliser but blew it.

Just had a 'defrost' game against Daz - 3-0 down after about 5 seconds and having forgotten I think how to play the game (too much time spent on NHL 2006 :D ) but the old magic doesn't take long to return with a 4-3 F/T friendly win for Korea. Just need to take the 2nd half form into Competitive games :D

The People's Republic off to a fine start in their WC campaign. A sluggish first hour saw the Koreans 1-0 down and looking at a defeat in their first game. But a quick response from Seol saw them back at 1-1 and a last second header from a corner in injury time saw the Koreans take the 3 points.
Second game saw the Koreans take an early lead but a strike before HT saw the Belgians back in it at 1-1. A strike about 20 mins from the end though saw a collapse in the Belgian backline and it was soon 4-1 which I felt was a little harsh but Belgium were struggling for sure in the 2nd half.

A harsh result in my opinion but deserved all the same. A disallowed goal and the foot of the post was hit by Moko before Teasy scored. A later disallowed goal by Moko after Teasy has scored his second really made my night :shrug: :razz:

The People's Republic's good start to their WC campaign ends in 2 clashes with England. Got off to a good start in the first game - 2-0 up at HT and cruising to victory. But a quick look at *******'s tactics at HT sees him revert to a Matt Wild-like 5-3-1-1 defensive wall (i.e. my pet hate formation) and Korea rarely threaten in the 2nd half.
Game 2 went exactly as I feared - Korea having total possession with England only having a threat on the break. But my useless effort's against total defence yields little in the goal scoring threats and eventually England snatch a goal on the break in the 2nd period to take a 1-0 lead. A switch to all out attack generates some chances to draw level but over playing against the total defend formation once more is the root pf the problem again. An injury time penalty from Beckham after I just couldn't be arsed defending chasing the England player down properly and just scythed him down added a layer of gloss to the scoreline.
I'm going to eventually crack total defend formations....................eventually :suspect:

2nd game I was 2-0 up, going well, then had a player sent off for a foul on the half-way line :nuts: Tried to readjust my formation, but it's tough to compensate for Eto'o :nuts: Belly scored 3 in 2 minutes or something, then my forward had an open goal (literally) and fell over the ball.

I'm sure John will be along to post officials in a minute - but i wanted to take this opportunity to talk about John and his mastery of the game.
I am simply amazed at John's skill as typified by his mastery of South Korea. i am not completely up on the team names so I apologise in advance if I get anything wrong.
It was the way that John mastered Mi Big Kok early in the first game that really impressed. Once he had that under control, I was always struggling. But it was the way that he caressed Sum Yung Gy in midfield, cajolling him into paroxyms of wonderful movement that impressed even more.

1st game was as tight as my ring, and loates would have nicked a point, but the ref decided against allowing the advantage to be played when he was through on goal (good lad)
2nd game, I finally figured how to play with a team full of ****-hot players - i.e dribble (a lot) and shoot (a lot!) - I'm so used to dealing with *****, and having to get to the goal-line before shooting, I couldn't figure out how to handle a team full of stonking players...and they are.

cheers m8. enjoyed both games, and not just because i won. the first game my team did appear to muscle portugal off the ball with ease. not steroids though, weetabix.
the score in the 2nd game is a bit flattering. Song gave away a penalty with a looney challenge in the box, straight red i though, ref gave a yellow! oddly i was using the X button to tackle when Song threw himself at Lou's striker. then i was 2-0 down and about to give up hope when a very agricultural tackle on the halfway line caused the ref to flash the red card (think he got the wrong one and didn't want to look like a girl by changing) this left a big hole and i gladly exploited it.

2 tight but enjoyable games.
*******s ultra defensive formation though, has probably cost him the chance of qualifying for round 2, especially the 2nd game where he created very few chances.
Just the 3 points needed from Daz to qualify now :D
trouble is, I didn't really feel confident enough to open up against Steve. He was just too good, my players were all on blue, and I didn't have any confidence.
Anything less than six points against Daz and it's him and John through.

I'm sure it didn't cause offence, but a sarky comment aimed at an organiser who has already displayed his annoyance at running the tournaments, isn't really the best of ideas is it?
Bolch knows I am sure, how much respect I have for him and the way he organises this tournament. I've told him enough on MSN. I've been there myself, so know what it is like.
I'm sure there are plenty here that don't know the work involved, but I do and I bow down before him for it.
I alos hope he knows that there are people here I am sure (I am one) who would be willing to help share the load. Admins for each league, people to help tabulate the results etc etc.
Bolch does a great job, and I will be so disappointed if he quits. I hope one light hearted comment wont get to him - after all it is a sign of his good work that has so many games played in one night when WC kick off comes around.

Just to let everyone know... For the World Cup there will be a zero tolerance policy for games not played. If you're games arn't played by the deadline and the thread shows little effort to get your games played you''re out. Also I'm not chasing anyone by email or msn anymore

I hosted both games but boy were the cracking!
Second game I took the lead then bob plonked 3 up front, I panicked, tore my formation apart to combat his and it just fell apart culminating in a last minute winner from Saha when I should have cleared.

Tried going All Out Attack but TBH, it never really works as once you lose possession, it can take ages to get it back so against decent players like Daz, it can work against you! A late German header killed the game for Korea.
Second game saw a quick start from the Koreans and a stabbed in goal from a corner saw them take the lead. But a quick German fightback saw them in front at 2-1 and the Koreans looking a little concerned. A goal just before the break though from Seol saw the game levelled at 2-2 and set up potentially for a climax in the second half. But despite a thousand chances for Korea, the Germans held out under serious pressure and took a valuable point (despite only 2 chances on goal! :D )
But its enough to confirm my progression into the Knockout Stages!! :clap:

It's weird, played the same formation throughout the 2 games, had most of it in the first game and deserved the win, but the second game was all John

2 good games, the second one very entertaining. Bolch's gk was a complete donkey after I hoofed a ball down the centre at the end of the first half and he came out and missed it. Macken scored with a diving header that barely made the net.

First game nothing really interesting happened. 2nd game, Daz paused at 17 minutes to say there was lag, I said we couldn't really stop it later and he decided to carry on. At half time he was 2-0 up. Plucked one back around 76 minutes and then a deflected shot fell nicely for Pborsky to steal the win in Extra time. Over the course of the 2 matches stats I dominated in terms of possesion and shots so deserved the 4 points, but to lose the 3 points they way he did I'm sure Daz is gutted.

Felt for Matt on his birthday and all. It was like a Porsche v a Ford Diesel Mondeo speed wise. Matt equalized in 1st game on about 80 mins. He had me under pressure a bit in 2nd half with some accurate long passing on the break.
2nd game I went one up in 1st half with most of the posession but Matt looking the more dangerous, pity nobody in Mexico can shoot :nuts:
Scored two late goals in 2nd half as Matt went all out attack.
Better player didn't win - better team did.

You deserved to win both. I simply couldn't compete - in both games you were all over me and it was only through look and dons stylee over the top that I got near your goal.
I simply cannot work Mexico. They can't pass, they fall over if you as much as breathe near them so you can't run with them, they are incredibly slow, dont get near the goal for crosses despite have 5 in the box and they can't shoot to save their lives. Possibly the worst team i've ever used.

First game i opened with a free kick from 35 yards out (first one ive ever scored) which was actually a cross, SS immediatly subbed his keeper after that..... in the 3rd minute of the game!
Never really got back into it after SS was awarded the harshest penalty ever, my defender was giving the scots a french show of affection by stroking his arm and the refree calls a penalty for it!!
Second game was far tighter until with the last kick of the game (again!) i finished SS off with a sidefoot pass on the 6 yard box

First game I couldn't get going and couldn't break down bigjohnny's defence. Bigjohnny had a great chnace to go in front just beforre half time after rounding my keeper but he must if been hammering the shoot button because a chip shot came out and the shot went over the bar.
Second game we were playing and I was 3-0 up and then bigjonny got disconnected. He said he had lag and the game disconnected. He said we should play again and add the 3-0 to the score. So we played again and I won 5-1. He said the connection was still bad though.

I have to win by 3 clear goals over two games to go through on goal difference to the knockout stages. :(
Of course I can do it...! :thinking: :D
In my group I have to win 2 by masses of goals and hope that one of the top two don't get any points.
In short i'm out as Mexico suck donkeys and run as fast a quadriplegic dropped in vat of treacle :lol:
In the case of Group A, assuming they didn't play any more games Kipp and Br00n would go through as they've actually posted in this thread unlike Trigger and played games unlike Phayze.
I've been ill for a couple of days, which is why I haven't been around. I did try playing kipp and Br00n on Monday, but the lag was horrendous for them, so we had to re-schedule. Playing 3 people over a weekend is easy, I don't see why we can't complete the group. I may be about tonight, depending on how much better I feel, but if not early Friday evening, or all weekend I can be available.
I'm sure you'll complete the games, just getting across the idea of the Zero Tolerance.

Absolutely robbed Baby J in the first with an undeserved equalizer in last few mins.
Home game managed to play a lot better and Baby J just wasn't the same. Big J came on at the end to watch last 5 mins and once game was over said Baby J found the game la**y. Must admit I found the first game a bit that way but that's why we play home and away.
Very well played Baby J and best of luck in the rest mate. You did well with those Fins :thumbs:

Another nightmare of a couple of games for me. I was quite pleased when I actually scored one in the first game which was lucky in itself as it bounce off your keeper. Gave another 2 away in the second half.
Much the same in the second game, actually created loads of chances but my players can't shoot to save their lives. Thought I was gonna nick it as there was only a couple of minutes but my defenders decided to create holes worse than a sieve and lo and behold an equaliser came from close range.
Very well played though matey, you exploited my slow defence and caught me on the counter several times which paid off with your goals. Oh well, a short and sweet WC outing from the Croats this year... :cry:
