Lost the 1st to a 10 man 8 year old. To be fair, it could have been much worse
2nd game, I laid siege to his goal and his keeper did some great saves, my ***** strikers missed some easy chances and had 2 ruled out thro offside. Mind you, BabyJ's goal in the 2nd game was pure class with a classy little lob over my keeper :notworthy
So, i'm out

Jabra and Teasy
I'll be around most of this evening for our games....
How many games are left to play?
20 matches by my reckoning.
Groups A & H are a couple of matches behind but just need 2 matches in Group C and F to determine who goes through.
Group Stages Updated
Ah, I see Group E has finished - Floyd is my opponent which is good. Having just had a couple of games against 'Mido', I remembered why I hate him so much in this game :D

Really frustrating match the first game for me, no matter how I tried I couldn't score! Hit the post, rebounds and everything, still would not go in! To top it off my keeper was absolute crap, let the ball through his legs and punched the ball high into the air and was way off the line which was duly punished. You played well matey to exploit my keeper's weakness. :)
The second I'm glad I scored at least once, the game was really tight and for one my keeper was on form.
I'm so glad I'm no longer playing with Croatia, they are the beauty and the beast of pro evo, 99.9% of the time they turn nasty!
Cheers for the good games, look forward to playing you again!

Well played in both games.
The first was truly smash and grab. Your keeper let you down twice and I got lucky each time. Apart from that I hung on for dear life for the entire game. I was hoping they'd chuck a ball on for my lot to play with during the second half :)
2nd game was real close and your keeper pulled off some good games and then a 4 pass move let your forward in and a tidy finish.
Cheers for the games

Second game was a dull first half both 2 shots a piece and the score 0-0. Second half and Sheva awoke. He ended up scoring all four, the second from a pen after finlab hacked Vorobey in the box. The third was from a beautiful overhead kick.

First game was tight, then I had a mad 5 minutes scoring 3 goals - Pauleta was on form throughout and had a hat-trick, but the score was flattering.
2nd game, my whole midfield were on blue and Pauleta, so I put a reserve team out and was over-run for most of the 1st half - managed to turn the game round after putting a midfielder up front, but let in a dubiously awarded pen at the end, but Daziel didn't deserve to lose in fairness.

It's not my fault that Mel has no chance of qualifying and can't be bothered to play his last matches.
I don't really mind not going through because I'll take it like a man.... :)

Not sure how it effects the outcome, but that is what has happened in the league up to now...

Surely in this sort of scenario, an extra 2 legged game between Bob and SS would be a fairer alternative? :(
EDIT: (Don't take it personally Bolch - not complaining about the decision, but just feel in this sort of competition, and considering SS would have almost certainly beaten Mel, it just seems a fairer way to proceed for this one time.)
BTW, Hawaiian Floyd - the People's Republic of Korea will be around for 7.30pm tonight otherwise we're waiting till Thursday cos of some small little CL game tomorrow

I think that's probably fairest.
It is a shame the Mel hasn't been more cooperative with playing his last matches.
Should he be removed from Season 7 becuase of this?

Just my two pennies worth.

I haven't checked either, and can't as I'm at work, but I know Ono scored about 12 against Mel and would be punished greatly if Mel's games were removed.
EDIT
At the end of the day it's not fair on Ono to remove Mels games and it's not fair on SS as chances are he'd beat Mel and get the GD he needs to overtake Bob. The fairest way does seem to be a 2 legged playoff between Bob and SS.

As i've said before a hard line should be taken on people who fail to appear - either ban them outright or fine points the season following IMO :)
I think we should give Mel a break and a chance to explain rather than booting him out of season 7. Or why arent we speaking about putting soundstyle in instead of jabra or teasy who only played 2 games each. (as did manxmuppet but at least he posted looking for games a few times)
ps I dont think any of them should be booted without a chance to explain.

Surely if we start waiting for people to explain why 6 games or so in 10 days is too hard, then we'll just be holding up the competition for everybody else?
I'm just trying to keep things moving at the pace they should. As has been mentioned for Seaosn 7 I can't have dropouts as the team format won't work then. If there is a higher problem (ie illness/injury) that's prevented Mel replying on the forum or to SS's email then I'm sure he'll forgive me for removing him to keep things moving. If he's not played his WC games from a "Well I can't go through so **** it attitude" then I agree he shouldn't be in Season 7.
In Group H Manx is going to go through as he posted several times to say that he was looking for matches.
Although to be honest I'm not sure they should get the chance to explain as it's holding up everyone else. For 10 days this comp's been running with an advertised ZERO TOLERANCE approach. If I allow them to explain arn't I tolerating it?
It's reasons like this why I'm pondering taking a back step from running anything. I told Bob he was through as he played his matches, got critiscised for being harsh on SS due to Mel going AWOL. Make an effort to prevent that happening in the next comp and get critiscised for being harsh on Mel.
Roll on PES5 and the return of the commitee :|

I totally agree with instant removal unless the person has been really trying to play the games.

Well its not like I'm not playing games. I'm playing plenty of league and super league. I just never see Manxmuppet and Jabra on MSN and tend to sort my games out there.
To Manx and Jabra, just message me anytime between 4pm and 8pm any day this week and we can play our games. Unless I've already been thrown out, in which case don't bother :)
Well its not like I'm not playing games. I'm playing plenty of league and super league. I just never see Manxmuppet and Jabra on MSN and tend to sort my games out there.
That's why it's so imperative people organise matches via email or at the very least try to post some availability on these forums.
The deadline for group matches was Monday night, that's been and gone so I've had to remove you and Jabra because Manxmuppet had stated several times on this thread his availability.

Bolch - I feel a bit bad because it seems to me that Teasy has also been trying to play his games. It might also be a little confusing that my MSN sign-in doesn't match my forum name, although I do usually introduce myself and my MSN details are on here.
Aaaanyway. If Teasy wants to play two legs against me to see who goes through, I'm happy with that. Plus whoever it is will play Teq anyway
But if you also want to stick with your decision, I don't want to cause any extra administrative burden :)
Bolch, I'm on MSN a lot and called exactly the same on there as I am on here so it shouldn't be hard to contact me directly. Also I didn't realise that Manx was called Fraggle on MSN (he just messaged me to tell me), which explains why I never saw him on there. I'm not trying to blame Manx though. I think we're both to blame (I could have posted here and he could have contacted me on MSN). I'd be up for a two legged game right now to decide who goes through. But if the first decision stands then I won't be losing any sleep :)

Probably the best I've played so far with Korea. The first game was just immense - not had finishing as good as that in a long time. Menacing throughout and I was dead chuffed to be honest with the overall play considering that Floyd had beaten out Midgypt to second place and my rather patchy form with Korea.
Well played Floyd - 2 of the more entertaining games I've played

Don't want to talk about the first game. 2nd game Nedved, Baros, Koller, Jankalovski, Ujafelasi & Jarosik were on straight down arrows so had to play Smicer as my main striker  (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)
2nd round (shocker)
bolch 2 - 3 belly
belly 1 - 1 bolch
first game was a comedy of errors. bolch went 2-1 up on the stroke of half time and i thought it was all over. 2nd half bolch couldn't hit the proverbial barn door (he did warn me before the game!) and i got 2 lucky goals. 1 was a pass into the box that hit 2 defenders legs and landed at the feet of eto'o!
2nd game was an excellent end 2 end encounter. lots of chances and misses! if i could score 1 on 1 i would be good at this game!
thanx for the games bolch.

The arrow thing is no way overrated: Pauleta on red will walk past anyone - Pauleta on grey trips over his own shoe-laces, can't shoot, or header.
Likewise, defenders on red are far easier to use to win the ball back...

ps bolch, i never take any notice of the grey arrows. in our games eto'o was on red for one and grey for the other. makes no difference. could be me though.

But if the the backup is pants, why not just stick with your established players? I've lost count of the times people have swapped out their 'stars' for Red Arrow replacements and they get still get beat. If I'm aware of someone being on a down arrow, then I'll monitor them and see how they play. But no way on earth am I swapping Koller for Smicer any day :D
If I player is on a grey they drop something like 16 points off their shot accuracy (amongst other things). Every game with the Czech's I left Smicer on the bench as Koller and Baros out perform him in almost every respect. But it's very rare I'd swap a green Koller for a Red Smicer (Maybe in a 70minute lets get things moving type situation).
Maybe your instancy in fielding the big names is what's prevented you from winning owt John ;)
My entire PES4 career has gone downhill since that famous 2-6 victory :(
Erm, 7 wins and a draw in my last 8 games with Valencia since my alteration to the lineup! :D
Still think its barmy to bring in a player who overall might be say, an 80 rated played for say a 95 rated player who is on a grey/blue arrow. Never in a million years would I say, drop Rivaldo or Giovanni for Okkas when using Olympiakos even if he is sub-zero as he is still liable to totally transform a game. I'd only ever drop a player who is marginally better or level usually with his backup.
But, football is football and everybody on the planet has their own opinions and that still carries across to Pro Evo tactics! :D
Matt.Wild
28-09-2005, 14:02
Did you say rematch John? :D
Thing is though John, Koller is mroe like a 91/2 rated player. If he's on a grey that reduces him to a 76/7 rated player so why leave him on when Smicer is rated as 80?
Cos Koller still has the ability to perform at that higher level - just cos his ability might be lowered a bit, doesn't mean he will play like that throughout. He'll still be capable of doing serious damage - Smicer is a little fart ;)
must admit, ive had players on red arrows that seem to be playing ****, and then the very next match against the same person they play really well but are on a blue or grey arrow. When playing with inter, i never drop Vieri no matter what arrow he's on.

OFFICIAL 2nd ROUND

Phayze 1 - 2 Ono
AGGREGATE: Ono 4 - 1 Phayze
Phayze deserved an away goal in the first game after I had hit 2 slightly against the run of play. I decided that 2 was enough for me and played with less attacks and held on.
Second game I actually controlled pretty well I thought. Phayze got a dream start with a goal virtually from kick-off but then I had a succession of corners leading to my away goal which pretty much ended the tie.
Good games and actually very tense. Cheers Phayze.

Cheers Phayze.
looks like mido is going to have to show ronaldo where the back of the net is then     cant wait
2nd Round matches still to be played
Br00n vs Soundstyle
Tequila v Manxmuppet
Moko vs PJG
Got a tough game ahead whoever wins out of Br00n or SS
I thought I was playing Teasy?
Anyway I will be on tonight from around 6.
Official Results
Tequila 0-0 Teasy
Teasy 1-2 Tequila
I talked to Manx and he said he and Teasy played two games to decide who goes through and Teasy won so I played him.
Both games were close due to Teasy playing with 5 at the back. I thought I should of won the first game as I created several chances especially at the start. But the the game ended goalless with me having 9 shots and Teasy having 0.
Second game Teasy scored early on and seemed happy to stick with the one goal advantage. Managed to score around the 66th minute after Teasy took down Vorobey in the box and got a pen. Sheva then converted to make it 1-1 with an away goal meaning Teasy had to score another to go through. Teasy said he didn't mean to foul my player as he is using an N64 pad and the buttons are close together.
After I scored Teasy made some changes as he was playing quite defensively but it gave me more space and Vorobey managed to nick a winner in the 85th minute.
Well played Teasy!
Two very tough games there. I think I made the right choice with five at the back considering Tequila played three up front (including Shevchenko). In the end it would have paid off if not for a slip of my thumb. 1:0 up with only 25 minutes of the second game left and Tequila seemed to be running out of idea's having thrown everything at me. Then I slip and press tackle when I was meant only to press through ball to bring the keeper out :( Its a little bit disapointing, but Tequila certainly deserved to go through on chances so I'm not bitter :D
Teasy said he didn't mean to foul my player as he is using an N64 pad and the buttons are close together.
Its true yah cheeky bugger :D I use the top yellow button for through ball and the right yellow button for tackle (its the same control scheme I got used to from ISS64 ). When you hold the top yellow button your thumb is directly over the right yellow button, it only takes one thumb spasm/slip :D
Official Quarter Final Results
Tequila 5-0 Belly
Belly 1-1 Tequila
First game Sheva and Vorobey were on fire although I had a dubious penalty, ones where the defender brushs past the striker and then he stumbles.
Second game Belly played better and earned a well deserved draw.
Cheers Belly!

well played Tequila, in the first game i though i was doing well and then i was 3 down. first was deflected by my goalie! very strange. crappy penalty. but overall, i couldn't control Sheva. pretty much another lesson in PES4 from the great one.
wasn't even going to bother with the 2nd but glad i did. restored a little bit of african pride.

Really hard luck on Broon. He was probably the better player over the two legs as I could not really do much even when I was hosting....
I didn't really do anything over the two legs although I did have a golden chance in the first game as Fletcher was clean through but my shot went wide. My players gave it their all...!
In the second game I had to play most of the game with 10 men as I received two quick yellow cards. Somehow I managed to hang on....as Broon created some decent chances although my defence were immense....
We finally got to penalties where I managed to save two of Broons shots..
He did mention that he had controller trouble though...

Well, what can I say? Obviously I am disappointed but Steve deserved to go through really. Never got my arse into gear. Steve has been my most played opponent recently and he managed to suss me out and contained me (moreover Ronaldino down the right wing.) when it mattered.
Barely got any decent shots at goal and created very few chances in both games. Mido was a handful of course.
Goodluck with the tourney Steve. That is officially my last ever game on PES4. Just got PES5 on the PS2 so gonna go full tilt at that until the season starts again for that.

When you up for our monumental showdown between Scotland and errr Korea :suspect: :D
Unlucky Br00n, penalties are crap but it's the only way to decide at times :(
Ono, I'll never punish someone for playing games early :D
Just Moko / PJG left. Could Lou be walking through to the next round?
EDIT - No I forgot PJG's been away this week and I said he coupl eplay his game tonight/tomorrow.
SS played superb at the back but let himself down with at least 10 deliberate chops in each game - ya manky bassa :D

Round 2 results
Romania (moko7t8) 0 - 1 Argentina (pjg)
Argentina (pjg) 3 - 1 Romania (moko7t8)
Argentina win 4-1 on aggregate
First game was very tight and moko defended very well. He hit the cross bar but I managed to sneak it when his keeper went on a suicide mission outside the box and I crossed it to take the lead in the tie. Second game was really over when moko had two defenders sent off inside the first 18 minutes. I scored straight after the first sending off but moko managed to snatch back a goal straight away. Despite almost constant shots on goal moko's defence (or what was left of it) and keeper played well and I could only score another two goals.
Unlucky moko - you have improved massively since I first played you

thanks for the matches, i couldn't argue against the report. The 1st match was extremely tight and I was so annoyed at myself with the goal. It was one of those times when you bring the keepr out and then you realise he isn't making it. A pin point cross and I was 1 down.
2nd game I accept the 1st red card but the ref was very harsh for the second. My 2 central defenders and game plan out the window in 18 minutes. A one-on-one at 2-1 down which was dragged past the post was the last time I thought I had a chance. After that it was only a matter of how much PJG scored.

Soundstyle (Scotland) 2 - 0 John316 (Korea)
2-2 ON AGGREGATE
JOHN316 WINS ON PENS 5-4
Amazing tie - played pretty well in the first leg and though SS had 2-3 chances, Korea looked odds on for the Semis. But the second leg saw Scotland totally and utterly dominate and pens was my only hope. The shootout was 3-3 when Kenny Miller cracked the bar giving me a major chance. It was down to the last pen, tied at 4-4 but Cha Du Ri hits the post to take us into Sudden Death pens. Christian Dailly stepped up for Scotland and blazed it wide. I converted my pen and it allowed the Koreans to scrape through to the Semis! :notworthy

Totally outplayed in the first game. Did have a few chances though.
Second game I played really well bringing it back to 2-2 on aggregate only then to hit the bar from Miller during the game and in the penalties. :brickwall
It was a bitter pill to swallow losing on penalties to John but I did have some luck against Broon to go through so I bloody well swallowed that pill....

John316 (Korea) 3 - 2 Hornsteve9 (Egypt)
JOHN316 WINS 7-3 ON AGGREGATE
Korea again rise to the occasion - the first leg performance was the back breaker for the tie. Took an early lead from Yoo Sang Chul but was pegged back to 1-1 at HT. Second half saw Korea step up a level and quickly fired themselves into a 3-1 lead whilst keeping Mido silent. A late 4th away goal saw Korea take a commanding position in the tie.
Second leg was fairly even and I managed to take a 1-0 lead at HT. Egypt though fired back and took a 2-1 lead meaning they needed another 2 goals with 30 odd mins to go. But managed to keep Mido fairly subdued and recomposed Korea to snag another couple of goals late-ish to win the second leg and earn my place in the World Cup Final :D

official semi
Lou 2 - 4 Tequila
Tequila 3 - 2 Lou
1st game I scored first - then Mr T woke up and scored straight away then outplayed me for most of the game, though my midfield did keep giving him the ball all the time  - I pulled it back to 3-2 in the 80th min, but he again ran up the pitch and scored a 4th
So I needed to score 3 2nd game...and I had loads of chances in the first 10 mins but didnt convert any.
Gave away 2 pens but pulled back a couple to save a bit of pride - Deco scored a pretty nice little goal too, so not the worst result - just the 7-4 on aggregate
Well played (as usual) Mr T
So Tequila wins his second World Cup then
In the first few minutes I was really under pressure and I was fearing a Bolch comeback. I think my first shot was after 20 minutes.
Well played Lou and thanks for the pens!

OFFICIAL WORLD CUP FINAL RODGERING RESULT:
Tequila (Ukraine) 6 - 0 John316 (Korean pansies)
John316 (Korean Losers) 0 - 3 Tequila (Shevchenko and Co)
Tequila kicks my butt 9-0 on aggregate
Totally, utterly and completely mismatched. It was an even worse beating than the infamous Spartak Slaughter in Season 6 despite the scoreline not being as bad. 2 shots on goal in total with just the 1 on target. He had about 2323143423 on target despite my multiple tactical changes! :D
Went from being fairly confident, to stunned, to Mike Bassett mode, to just LMAO at how badly I was getting pummelled. My advice for anyone thinking of playing him in league action tonight........................forget it :D
Another World Cup! :D
I think I managed 40 shots to Johns 4 across the two ties.

I believe if you look back at results that you'll find I have the best record against him in all competitive games
Only a cup final win counts though :p
Lets compare our results:
Season 3 (Boro) = 2 draws
Season 4 (Olympiakos) = 1 win, 1 loss
Season 5 (Spatak) = 2 bad defeats
Season 6 (Mainz) = 1 win, 1 loss
Super League (Oly) = 1 win, 1 draw
World Cup (Korea) = 2 bad defeats
3 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats is a very respectable total I reckon :D
