I got one of these yesterday and while the sound is incredible I was a bit disappointed with the picture.

I used the video in connection provided with the system originally and found the picture average to say the least. I then tried an S-Video to Scart lead that HomeCinemaHeaven included with the system but couldn't get any sound and the picture was black and white.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

OK, this system has no problem with picture, its as good as the standalone DVD players Pioneer make (indeed its just a NSDV55 with a face lift).

Sounds like you have 1 of 2 problems. The supplied S-Video to scart lead is just that, you won`t get no sound with it, and theres no point even if you did as the NS does the sound for you.

If the picture is Black and white, its one of 2 things. Either your TV is not NTSC compatible, or you have not told your TV to accept a S-Video input through the scart you have connected.

Check the NSDV manual under TV / system connections (you`ll see PAL60 output settings for old / non-NTSC compatable Tvs), and you`ll need to check your Tv manual also. The problem you describe is a problem with your TV, not the system:)

Cheers Justin, will try changing the TV settings on the setup menu.

I never for a moment thought that there was anything wrong with the player, its just that I've always used SCART connections before without any problems and S-Video is new to me.
