I've been trying to get the recycle bin off my desktop but every tweak I've found means that I can't access the recycle bin at all.

I tried tweak UI and removing the registry key. I also tried creating a shortcut before removing the bin.

How do I move it to the start menu?

Tweak UI lets you create a file from any of the 'special' icons:

(click for bigger pic)

Create the file where you want it, then remove the recycle bin from the desktop.

I have tweakUI, I downloaded it while trying to solve this earlier today.

Mine doesn't have that option. In fact it looks totally different to the screen grab you've got there, it's got an explorer style navigation style menu, rather than a series of tabs. Maybe mine's a newer verison or it's just because I've got XPmce.

There are two versions of TweakUI, and XP one and a Win95 one, the screenshot above is from the 95 version (but it still runs in XP)

Try downloading the Windows 95 versions

The XP one does have the option aswell, it's under Desktop.

It has the option to remove the icon but not to create a file.
