This may be a numpty type thing, but since getting BF2 yesterday most of my time with it has been spent trying to sort out the following:

1) Screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 is not available in the video options.

Whether this is because that res. is generally not available (I would have thought it would be one of the more popular ones) or because the game has scanned my hardware (3GHz P4, 6600GT [AGP], 1Gb DDR400 RAM) and decided I can't run at that res. I don't know, but since I'm using a TFT which has that as it's native res., playing at anything else looks rubbish (especially any text).

2) Checking on EA Tech. Support I find I can add "+szx 1280 +szy 1024" to the end of the shortcut I usually use to run the game which forces it to 1280 x 1024. Works perfectly - game runs fine - problem solved - until...

3) When starting the game from within Xfire (so I can join up with my mates) it appears to just go straight to the actual executable, so BF2 runs at whatever res. is set in the video options. Back to square one.

Ideally, the solution would be to point Xfire at the shortcut rather than the executable, but I can't see any way of doing that.

At the moment I seem to be going round in circles - if anyone can offer any suggestions I'd be most grateful.
