My Dell 2001FP had what seemed to be a number of scuff marks. I actually got rid of most of them using a soft yellow duster, but I had a annoying one in the bottom left of the screen. I applied a drop of water to it and the thing smeared

So I need a solution to be able to get rid of the smear. That is all I need to remove so I don't fancy paying a fiver or whatever for such a small job.

Any suggestions? I'm scared of damaging the thing :dork:

You need a isopropyl alchohol solution (NOT any other type) and ol' faithfull yellow duster combination for that mate ;) I need to do the same for my LCD Wega and the sticky kiddie paw marks all over it ¬_¬

Hmm, bugger it. Will do it when I start actually using the monitor

Also can dust 'stick' to a screen if it is there long enough? I need to pack it back into the box but already it has got some dust on it!

Thats some freaky assed dust, if its "stuck" to your screen?! You didn't get overly excited when you unwrapped your new TFT did you? ;)

No it isn't yet, I'm just wondering if it could happen during storage? I'm not using the TFT until we move house and I don't want to risk anything strange going on inside the box

Nah, dust shouldn't be an issue mate :)

The best TFT screen cleaner is Klear Screen (www.klearscreen.com). Not that cheap, but def. v. good. They have a UK dealer too; check the website for a link.

Sometimes dust can sort of get weaved into the microscopic holes on the TFT cover, so that when you try to get it off, unless you're extremelly careful will leave scratches behind.

Looks like tweaser time for you my friend.

why don't just buy a proper cleaning solution now, and then stock it along the monitor? The thing won't go bad or something ;)
