Sorry to be a pain........

As some of you will be aware, I am currently in the process of sorting out some VERY nasty infections on my PC! :(

At the moment, I have no internet, so am relying on other peoples connections.

I should be sorted in the next few days, but would need a couple of things sorted when I do.....

1) I will need the latest patch for the game.......

2) When I am up and running again, I am going to be using a router - so that my X Box works as well! If there is any document or instructions you can post for using a router (I understand this can be a problem), then I would be very grateful.

If ayone can either post links to the above, or email them to me at *******@talktalk.net I would be very grateful! Thanks.

Sorry to be a pain! :(

Link to the Wolf Evolution 2005 patch (http://download.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=6915)

The router just needs port 5739 forwarding to your IP address but one of us can talk you through that once you get your hands on it.

Patches you will need are :

Wolf Patch (800 meg) (http://download.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=6915)

Pro Evo 1.1 Patch (http://dl.konami-europe.net/pes4_pc_patch1_10_UK.exe)

What router have you got also?

Thanks for that Matt, but when I checked the CD's I'd burnt before I reformatted, I discovered I'd copied them anyway!

Ready for advice on my router as everything is now hunky dory! (and boy, am I happy about that!)

Model number is a safecom SAMR-4114

Right, just checking the manual for it now.

1. Connect the network cable from a port on the router to your PC network card or via the USB connection if it has one.

2. Connect to it by typing 10.0.0.2 in the Internet Explorer address bar and login via the supplied details (U/N: admin and P/W: epicrouter are usually the default ones)

3. Go to Virtual Server on the left hand side and the Port Forwarding window should appear.

4. Now, I'm not entirely sure what the screen looks like but the basics are usually the same. In the Public and Private ports, type 5739. If it asks whether its TCP or UDP, then choose TCP. In the IP address, you need to type the local IP address of your PC (Go to Start, Run, type 'cmd' and then type 'ipconfig' and you're looking for the IP address it gives for your computer. Something 10.0.0.25 or something)

5. Click on Save Settings/Reboot on the left hand side and once it restarts and connects to your ISP, try an attempt at Clienting and one at Hosting to see what works and what doesn't.

No, sorry John but thanks anyway!

I'm surfing with the router now!

What I meant was, how to use it with pro Evo!

EDIT

Sorry, didn't read your post properly

Thanks.

Do I need to change the ip address of the PC in the config every time I log on, then? 'cause my ip address always changes! :(

The local IP address (not your 'External' IP address) should stick even with DHCP set up. Are you connecting to the router via a network card or USB?

I had one of these (well before it kept making screeching noises at me so i thought id better change it), do as John says, but your better off assigning your pc a static ip under network settings on your pc as it does tend to change it occasionally.

to play as client you need to enable dmz (not for hosting for some reason!)- the only thing is finding the setting as its tucked away somewhere obscure (settings but somewhere else - i think the same place as the firewall settings from memory)

Any problems give me a shout

Now I may not have done it 100% correct (german measles, fever of 104 and a rash like you wouldn't believe), but I did folow your instructions, mate!

The only slight difference was that in the Public Port setting, it had two settings boxes (beginning, and end). I used the same value (5739) for all three boxes.

i couldn't host at all (Pro Evo just reported my ip address as my local PC one), and when itried to client the person I was trying to connect to received my request ok, but we couldn't connect.

Could that be this DMZ thing? :?:

In the last one (or the one that says target or destination ip) you need to put the ip address of your pc in. Enabling dmz would help but that would make the port forwarding a bit pointless

From memory you put 5739 in the first two boxes (making sure the port type is set to tcp) and your pc's ip address in the last one

And PES always shows your 'internal' ip address (192.168.blah.blah)

But what I am saying is that there are four boxes to fill in, not three! :(

And PES always shows your 'internal' ip address (192.168.blah.blah)

Before I had the router, Pro Evo used to show the same ip address as whatismyip.com.

Now I have my router, it shows the 10.0. blah blah address that I get through ipconfig and entered in the router as my local address. :?:

Yeah, before using a router your machine's ip address was the same as whatismyip.com Now you have a router the router gets that address, and also has a local area network address, your PC has one too so it can talk to the router. The router basically forwards network traffic to your machine. PES just displays your PC's network address (which 9 times out of 10 on a local network starts with 192.168.?.? but it should be ok with a 10. address)

So, the ip address I give my opponents is my local address? Or the same as whatismyip, com

Sorry I'm so thick!

Sounds like he is looking at the wrong page - not seen a router yet that doesn't have some sort of Port Forwarding page. Ask him to screenshot the menu if need be so we can point yourselves in the right direction.

Thanks for the help earlier, Matt.

I did the "leave the modem off for five or six minutes trick" after you went.

I then tried to connect with Loates, and had exactly the same problem we had the other day.

In other words, when i tried to host - nothing happened at all.

When he hosted, his game told him I had requested a game, but when he clicked OK, we both got "cannot connect"

Try posting EXACTLY what you've done so far - there might be a small step that's been missed that will be the missing link!

Well, I allowed PES4 in the exceptions tab.

Just did.

It didn't. :(

For anyone who is interested, this is what I have done.

I have fixed my computers ip address.

I have enabled port forwarding for both my xbox, and for PES4 PC.
