Does anyone know the release date for this in R2? It was originally listed as a Decmber release but now the R2 suppliers have it as TBA.
im sure I heard it was due in the first quarter of next year, but sorry I cant give you a exact date.
just get the R1 version and be done with it. ;-) at least you will get some decent packaging then not the crappy silver box's the trek dvds get in this country.

I was under the impression the packaging was going to be different for TMP:confused:
I got the region One version and Boy was i impressed !!!!!
Damn fine set of discs.
excellent extras that a start trek Disc deserves.
although Robert Wise's commentary is a little dry.

i ordered this disc for my wife, and i must say the picture quality is pants! this is supposed to be restored, maybe they ought to give the next films to HKL to remaster, paramount obviously havent got the money to do it properly;)

Could you expand on 'pants' please. I'd really be interested to know why you didn't like the picture quality:)

lots of speckles on the print, along with a soft focus picture, and the colours seem to fade in and out at points as well, dont get me wrong its not the worst ive ever seen(i bought the gate), but it seems naff for a supposedly restored print.

i couldnt see anything wrong with the picture, i thought for an NTSC disc it was very good. im also interested to now know exactly what was wrong with it too.
where you watching it on a Colour telly ??????

my wife and my friend( who still reckons vhs looks good!) both watched this disc with me, and they both commented on the damaged print and overall specklie poppieness!:(
oh yeah - it's on a 32 inch wide COLOUR television you cheeky scamp:D
then you have a dodgy disc or a bad player cos mine is excellent, ive tried it on my PS2, my Samsung 709 and My panasonic PC drive and could not find one fault with the disc.

hmmmm... stranger and stranger....my player is also a 709, and it cant be the disc, cos most of the defects are negative related ones... oh well, still a good film:confused:

lots of speckles here too, definately not the player, tried it in 3... it looks like film damage, rather than disc damage...

The picture is definitive soft, sparks and dust are film-related. So if someone can't see this he/she is lucky (but has a dvd/tv-system with bad resolution ...)
Hopefully they've delayed the release of the R2 disc to clean it up a bit:D
