Watched an epic trailer for the 360 game "Prey" - very impressed I was too. Graphically lush (of course - with the exception a one character model I saw ¬_¬ ), it was an interesting spin of the fast-becoming-stale FPS genre. Set in the future, it seems to be centred around an alien invasion, with you being sucked up into the alien ships and their bizzarrely differring interiors.
Some of the weird stuff includes walkways where you find yourself upside down, stood on the ceiling (there appears to be no up or down in the game - tres confuzzling!) and the ability to astral project into some sort of Native American dude with a spiritual bow and arrow! There a some meaty weapons, including some bizzare bio-mechanical stuff with creatures that poo grenandes (I kid you not!). Also, the enemies are very impressive and very scary - some of them reminding me of the original Shadowman game on the PS1.
Also, if you get the chance to watch it, pay close attention to the intro, where furniture, people and parts of buildings are sucked up into the ether by a probing alien ship - spooky, impressive and funny, too.

The disc in bundled with some random XBox mag I can't remember the name of. Tisn't the OXM though. Keep your peepers out for this - looks nice ;)

It's from the makers of the rather rank 'Dead man's hand' so i'm not getting my hopes up.

Are the two related? Looks like they couldn't be further apart, IMHO.

looks pretty, but doesn't hint at being much more then yet another fps.

Really? Looks far and away from the realms of Doom, HL2 et al. Ah well, perhaps its how I read things. A FPS is obviously going to be a chap with a gun moving and shooting through the eyes of the first person, so by their nature all FPSs are going to have that in common - its the little innovations, nuances and tilts on the gameplay that make them "original", don't you think? Prey seems to offer that an abundence.
Where as Zelda TTP? Meh. Now there really is more of the same for you.

i do, but until I actualy play the game it's hard to judge on gameplay ;)

Lets not be picky  ;) The demo gives a fairly good indication of how the game will play - you just don't get to experience the control interface and possible glitches. You still can see what it has to offer though - as is the whole intention with demos. I know what you mean though - I'm just making an assumption based on a movie that may, or may not reflect how it will play. The fact that it is in-game engine is surely a promising sign though. Unlike the jip that was the PS3 Killzone video ¬_¬

Graphically it looks a heck of a lot better. And we'll probably get it this year.

Otherwise, it's hardly like you've played them both.

Ok, so I'm a bit behind everyone else with this...it's one of those games that I picked up cheap about a year ago and never got around to playing.

I've started it today and I'm having a great time with it  It just goes to show that old/cheap games you pick up in the bargain bins aren't always crap :D

I like being able to walk on walls etc and shoot enemies all around me...reminds me very much of Ratchet and Clank...which is a good thing in my book.

it's just a pity that if you pick up a later title, the online side of it is most probably dead :(

I recently bought Painkiller from steam for a whopin' £5, and am loving it..

Prey was next on my list to try as it goes.

So it's always been pretty much dead online then?

I don't mind the single player being linear too...my ageing brain sometimes gets confused when given too much choice in games

It was always carked online - laggy as hell and they never properly fixed it. Plus it was full of idiots running around trying to get the wrench achievement.

I played it for a bit and eventually, for some reason, it was mainly Germans who were the only ones left playing it every night.
