After my recent purcase of a Tw10H projector i spotted a dvd player in asda (philips dvp3005) that does progressive scan. so i bought it!

after a lot of messing (and luckily buying leads as the dvd didnt have any :oh-hum: ) i got it working.

to my eyes there seems to be some difference, however can anyone confirm that this is what a component setup should do :

#1 more 'solid' image. the picture seems to be a lot more solid onscreen, more like watching a big :oh-hum: tv than a projector

#2 more sharper image

also will buying a hi-def pack for the x-box have the same effects and should there be any other differences?

anyhow, off to watch gladiator now, the PJ has made watching older films a lot more enjoyable!!

I 'm thinking of buying the same DVD Player for the same projector as you have. Would you say the difference in quality (progressive on the Tw10) was definitely worth the £50 for the player? Does it work with NTSC discs as well?

Yes, this is what I found when I bought a Pioneer 575 and component cables for my projector. As soon as I enabled progressive scan the picture looked like it was printed on the wall, rather than being projected there. It was rock solid and pixels were pin sharp when looking closely.

yes, it is (remember the cables as well)

also setting up the dvd for prog scan took a wile as it wasnet as clear as it could be!

the player is easily hackable to all regions, and does play R1, so does do NTSC i would assume!

to activate prog scan you need to have then output NOT rgb (cant remember the other one) and then prog scan will be selectable
