According to the 'digital bits' 19th September 2002 for R2. Obvoiusly tentative but this comes from info sent to retailers. Possible downside is that warners is distributing it in R2 so looks like snappers.

Warner? Surely it'll be an EIV release?
It is, after all, being released by New Line in the States and Entertainment over here.

Yep. EIV suck but at least they're amarays and at least the extras are a bit more than production notes!! WB are the worst! :)

Er...some of the best discs I have (namely Superman and The Exorcist, plus stuff like Enter The Dragon and The Goonies) are from Warner Bros.

I'd be more than happy for Warner Bros. to release FOTR on DVD for the R2 market. However, I'll be buying the R1, as I'm sure New Line will include it in their Infinifilm series, or make it a Platinum release, or at least give it very funky packaging (like a book or something).

But the digital bits are saying the R2 will be distributed by WB:( .

Maybe R1 is looking more promising if you want to avoid snappers. I doubt if there'll be much difference between regions on the extras front. Of course there's always R4 to consider.

I heard somewhere that Peter Jackson has filmed the gorier aspects of the fight scenes to include in a version later to be released with an older rating (15 I guess) - anyone know anything more about this?

in 2004, there will hopefully be a 6 disc set, 2 discs per film :)

Warner? Surely it'll be an EIV release?

The movie is made by new line cinema which is now an AOL Time Warner company which explains why warner will be releasing it on dvd.

Yep, I heard this as well. Directors cuts will be out once all 3 films are available. I think the boxset will be the only way to get the DC's?

There's no way in hell that anyone's going to wait for the boxed sets before buying the dvds.

Admit it - you'll pre-order FOTR as soon as it becomes available, regardless of the version or the extras.

Avid fan: ??? I think just maybe people will decide if they like it before buying it!!! LOL. I'm sure I will, but there's always a chance that it might be bad... :)
