ok FA Cup proper now.
as discussed in the thread, rounds will be drawn at random. please endeavour to play your games before the deadline.

We'll see how it goes. Usually its the case, although as the World Cup was taking so long I started Season 5 early. I'm going to discuss with Belly and try to keep this competition moving like Ono did with the last FA Cup.

I'm going to suggest the following time table for the FA Cup as we want things to keep moving....
Prelims to be finished by Friday 12th (32)
1st round to be finished by Tue 16th (16)
2nd round to be finished by Fri 19th (8)
Quarter Finals by Tue 23rd (4)
Semis by Friday 26th
Final by Tue 30th.
This time table means at worst there will be a 10 day wait between Season 5 ending and Season 6 starting however you'll still have the Super League to keep you busy.
I think if a match isn't played by the date above then Belly should do the draw anyway but with a "Person a vs (person b vs person c)" type thing. If that match isn't completed by the next draw then person a plays whoever made the most effort to play the match. If both didn't pull their fingers out then person a gets a bye.
Please everyone use this thread/email/msn asap to arrange your match!

I'm away from the 15th to the 19th. If you make the draw for the first round, I can arrange to get knocked out before I go. If I was to win, I'd be able to play a second round game on the 19th (as I get back afternoon/evening)
We hold off for poeple's holidays so don't worry about that.

yeah cheers floyyd was a good game after i was 3-1 down at half time i thought sod it and played a attacking 4-3-3 formation with little defnce cant believe i scored 2 and didnt concede to make it 3-3 then in the last minute of extra time your goalie pulled of 4 great saves to deny me

i told floyyd who agreed its not right and for me to try and host and see how we get on i told floyyd he will still take a 2-0 lead into game so we played with me hosting and ended 3-3 i told floyyd he had won but he said dont bother with first game lets just do replay and pens if needed
i agreed and lost fair and square

did you see the bit john where i said he had won and that was it end of but he said nah dont worry i could tell you were suffering as your style of play was totally different
cant see why it was a prob as it was mutually agreed by both of us if it was you mate i know you would have just gone into lou barlow mode and said baaaaahh no such thing as lag :lol: and took the win which i would have agreed with
at the end of the day the result was right and even if i had of won i would have accepted any decision by mr bolch :razz:

It opens a massive can of worms though? What is stop this sort of thing from happening in the future where a player refuses to play as a client due to lag? The whole thing could fall apart. One of the main league rules is that you must be able to function as a client in the league - if you can't fulfil that rule currently, then it creates a problem hence why some players have not even been able to re-enter the league due to clienting issues.
Now that is probably an extreme sort of case - but I know if I was running the league (fortunately I'm not :D ) then it would be a concern of mine for sure!

most of the time i dont have a prob clienting but latley for some reason its been bad on some occasions and for your information i did not refuse to play.
kinda strange if you cant host no worries u can still play in league and client every game
but ifyou cant client then see ya later go find somewhere else to play
if you got one rule then stick to it if you canot host and client then you are out

At the end of the day the match should've been played as the rules state, thankfully Floyd won which doesn't cause as much upset as if Jonny would of won. All games should be played to the rules and that's how it is going to stay from now on.
Jonny: We've had the rule you only need to be able to client from day 1 and it's not going to change now. If you can only host you put yourself at an advantage over the other players which isn't on. If you can only client you're at a disadvantage, but because it's your disadvantage we don't stop you. Nils could only client for the first 2/3 seasons but was welcome as he knew he was at a disadvantage and was willing to accept it. Obviously it becomes a problem if 2 people can client only and they have to face each other but we've not had that yet.

Nothing like a bit of controversy to start this competition off.
Apologies for opening the worms, it's already time consuming enough maintaining the league's / cups and Bolch does a superb job :notworthy
Just for the record, I've played Johnny a few times now and I know his connection for hosting is as good as any and I never suffer from any *** when he host's so when he reported the said crime I was ok with him hosting and wiping the slate clean (It really obvious he was having trouble as I was 2-0 up 1st 5 mins).
Not saying this was the correct way to go as the rules do state you must be able to client but pretty sure it says you can swap the hosting over by mutual consent. Saying that though, it's probably best agreed before the match starts but in our defence Johnny did say he was having problems before we started so I said if it's unplayable, you can host.
If I'd have lost I would have taken the defeat like a man - :cry: but would not have complained at all as everything was agreed by both of us all the way through.
Now let the real competition begin :thumbs:

Bigjonny, do you ever play any other online games that have record pings (CS, CoD, BF2 etc)? If so, what you do you ping in those games on UK servers? If you are lagging like crazy, then investigate anything and everything!
What equipment do you use? (unsure of what NTL BB customers use)
What length cable do you use to connect to your BB equipment?
What AV do you use?
What firewall do you use?
Which Wolf patch did you install?
What resolution do you run the game at?
What gamepad do you use to play the game with?
Any bit of information you can provide can help us eliminate this problem cos blaming the game doesn't really cut it when 99% of us don't suffer real lag on clienting :p
EDIT: What exactly is your lag like? Is it Button Lag, is it teleporting player lag? Is it just players being stuck in the mud lag?

Very close game, nothing in it and I just managed to nick it in the end. I dominated the first exchanges but Brett really got at me and it paid off with a well taken goal. I didn't want it to go to a return leg and chased the winning goal in the last 10 mins. I actually got a cross in where one of my men was in front of a defender and headed in at close range.
My players control of the ball is absolute codswallop, don't see me lasting long in this Tourney but I'll certainly try my hardest!

Neither games were that great in fairness. Both defenses sucked balls and strikers weren't that great. 32 shots on net in the first game and 39 in the second goes to show the hit ratio. Bit gutted to of gone out thanks to 2 crosses in extra time delivered by a striker that close to the sideline he could snort it.
Also didn't get a "well played" from John but we all know we arn't in the same league as Mr316 ;)
Now I can go back to worry about Premiership Promotion.

A combined 71 attempts on goal over the 2 games - perhaps the most entertaining games I've played in. Utterly ***** defending all over the pitch plus a few quality goals equalled this scoring mayhem. Could have been any scoreline in any games there were just that many chances - only nabbed a replay with a goal in the 90th minute from Cavenaghi after being 3-1 down at one point. Second game was 3-3 after normal time - I then sprinted into a 5-3 HT lead in ET only for Bolchy to score again and then shot wide from the edge of the box that nearly forced a penalty shootout! :eek:
Guarantee I won't be lasting too long in the FA Cup but I'll give some entertainment in process :lol:

EDIT - To clarify I'm not having a dig about your style of play I don't do that. I'd be just as gutted if you scored with 2 chips in 10 minutes or 2 long rangers.

Inter Milan (gunner) 6 - 2 (Art Vanderlay) Weder Breman
Weder to a shock lead with a great bit of play and pressed Milan for the whole of the first half at 2-2. Scored a third just before the break to give me some breathing space.
A quick tactical switch to give me more cover at the back and more firepower up front (at the expense of my midfield lol) seemed to do the trick as I scored goals in abundance in the second.
The game was a capped with a speculative shot by Gonzalez which found the keeper signing autographs in the stand, that flew in from 35 yards. The shot hit the back of the net before he could put his pen away. :lol:

Well played gunner. Werder just couldn't live with the power or the pace of Inter, and my finshing was cack for the few chances I did get. One of my goals was cutback-ish too, that's how desperate it was :( ;)

First game was great - i rushed into a 2-0 lead, got pegged back to 2-1, scored again, only for Tequilla to score in the 80th and 88th minute to level it. Replay and I just couldn't cope with his 5-1-4 formation - every attack was deadly.

First game was end to end stuff. Phayze scored two goals early on but I managed to sneak one back before half time. Phayze managed to score a third near the end of the game and it looked like I was going out. Geovanni managed to score in the 86th minute to make it 3-2, then right near the end of the game Nuno Gomes managed to steal the victory from Phayze and force a replay. Thought overall it was a draw as I had loads of chances but they didn't seem to go in, including an open goal after Geovanni had rounded the keeper.
The replay was the exact opposite for me as most of my chances flew into the back of the net and I managed to scorw with my first attack of the game.

Bad luck that mate - to actually stop him winning with Benfica was an achievement in its self. Nobody has really come that close to doing that in the PL yet! :suspect:

very strange game. 5 goals, ono hit the woodwork 3 times, 12 yellow cards (all for Ono) resulting in 4 sendings off (1 of which was very harsh, unfair even). ended up playing 7 men! the score doesn't really reflect the game that well. it was by no means a whitewash, but did get a little easier when playing on a nearly empty pitch.

I basically lost my rag with the game when my "centre forward" hit the bar when a SS style cross came to him in the open pretty much on the penalty spot with the goalie out of position only for the nonce to plant the "tap in" onto the bar.
Strangely enough, I actually thought I played quite well in the first half. Your second goal was a classic defensive header straight into my own goal with no pressure around. If I'd known he was that good I would have played him up front!

Yea, I do have a big advantage to the fact I am Inter and most of the best players have got the worse teams.
I guess if there was ever going to be a chance, now would be as good as ever to make the most of it.
But there is still a long way to go, and I am sure I will slip up at some point or other :| .

One of those days, I drew and then beat him before that.
22 shots to his 13, 11 to his 8 on target and 51 to 49 possession.
2 goals in the first 10 mins of the game didn't help, but I got one back to make it 1-3. Then just before half time I passed the ball back to my keeper who neatly stepped over it to allow Trigger a 4-1 lead at the break.
More pressure in the 2nd half but went for broke and changed to 4-3-3 with Castillo wide left. Dudek kept everything out and then he broke and caught me at the back with Cisse rolling the ball in to make it 5-1.
The game finished with laughter ringing in my ears and the chant of 5-1, 5-1......
Well played Trigger - I do so hope you get Tequila in the next round AWAY!

First match was a cracker, I kept scoring, Rich kept equalising. He took a 4-3 lead after 2 own goals from the Celtic defence, but I managed to break and sneak a last minute equaliser.
Replay was a tighter affair. I led for 60 mins, but more comedy defending saw Rich equalise before his class shone through and he scored two more including a cracking 30 yarder into the top corner for his third.

Truly a game for the strikers. Just about every other attack one of us scored. I think that in the end, it was 17 shots with 8 goals. I took the lead, he equalized, I scored again, he equalized. HT.
2nd half Kipp took an early lead only for me to equalize after 75 mins. C Atheltico were then in heaven when on 83 mins they took the lead for the 3rd time. Then, with the last attack of the game a Kipp corner was headed goal bound. The keeper should have saved but parried into the roof of the net :cry:

Athletico took the anger out of the last minute equalizer against them in the last game by taking 3 well taken second half goals. First game was very tight. Ronaldo took the lead early in the first half and I equalised just before half time. Ronaldo had two defenders sent off in the last 5 minutes for hacking my players down when they were through on goal :mad:
In the replay Ronaldo took the lead three times and each time I managed to draw level. Was 3 - 3 at half time and neither of us managed to make the break through in extra-time. The penalty shoot out was mad - it took 12 penalties each to seperate us and the score was still only 4 - 3 :lol:

I'm up at 5:30am for work, so I'm ****** if I am staying up then just to play a game. I don't think that is unreasonable.
If Belly wants to kick me out for that, it's his choice.

We know you turn around games fast and we appreciate it, but we had to make a decision. Ric is still 4 games behind in the league and they're more important than the FA Cup games at the moment. I wasn't going to take Ric out as a punishment for not playing games or because of the times he can play this week, at the same time I wasn't going to let you walk away in a huff over this. By removing you both I've taken the illness off the pair of you and put it squarely on myself. It's only this one competition you've been removed from and that's solely to keep it running.

My advice (if you want to listen to some one who lost 11-0 over 20 mins to him) is to throw everything you've got at him and force him onto the back foot. SS tried all out defence and he got an all out beating. He throws a large number forward with Benfica does Big T so if he tries throwing even more the other way, he might avoid a beating. Something like a 3-4-3 would be my tip. :thumbs:

Within 10 game mins my defender with no one around him following a corner, controlled the ball on his chest, turned and slammed it into the roof of the net :doh:
From then on, it was end to end stuff for the rest of the half. I managed to get one just before the break on the 43rd minute to go in level at the break with an effort from close range.
After the break, I switched to a more defensive formation to soak up the pressure (his forwards were about twice as fast as my defenders :lol: ) and Tristan was mostly thwarted. A couple of times he broke to the edge of the box but his Tristans finishing was mostly of the row Z stuff :D
Then, in the 90th minute, Deportivo hearts were broken. I broke down the right and went to put a cross in. He blocked the cross well and it went out for a corner. Athletico worked their corner routine to the edge of the 18 yard box, and swung a cross in to the back of the 6 yard box.
My defender (who was on a gray down arrow!) rose well and head it firmly back in the direction it came towards the goal. It looped over the helpless keeper and past the defender on the post - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL :clap: :D
I could have made it 3 just before the final whistle (we had about 3 mins of extra time) but the off form Nunez shot straight at the keeper and the ball bounced out for a corner. I didn't get chance to take it as the ref called time :)

Very well played mate. I messed with my formation that has served me well all season and I seemed to lack numbers in midfield. You used the space well and created allot of space.
Gutted that Vieri who has been easily my player of the season missed a 6 yeard tap in, but such is Pro Evo.

My defender (who was on a gray down arrow!) rose well and head it firmly back in the direction it came towards the goal. It looped over the helpless keeper and past the defender on the post - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL :clap: :D
I could have made it 3 just before the final whistle (we had about 3 mins of extra time) but the off form Nunez shot straight at the keeper and the ball bounced out for a corner. I didn't get chance to take it as the ref called time :)
cracking game matt. if tristan could shoot it could have been a very different score line. 15 shots and i didn't score! had to rely on an own goal.
gutted to lose at the end like that, thought i could at least force a replay.
still, only a game.

To be fair, I didn’t deserve the victory. If Tristan was on form it could have been different. Mind you, most of his shots were limited to 20 yarders but Tristan’s shooting was poor – the other strikers on his team looked far sharper than Tristan :eek:

just noticed this on the forum of another PES league that I used to play in.
SACKED.
MitchNUFC - Manchester Utd.
Mitch has been sacked, as he cant be arsed chasing people up to play his matches - upon being told his outstanding matches would be 0-0`s as the deadline has passed - he worryingly contemplated his position as manager.
I decided for him.

Babyjonny raced into a 2-0 lead after about 25 minutes but I managed to pull myself back into the game and was 3-2 up at the end of half time. Second half I had more of the ball and scored 3 more to make the game safe in case of a late surge from Babyjonny.

The L issue is a bit hit and miss atm. I have just reinstalled pes4 with the official patch so I will give it a try out tomorrow night.
Good to be back in the FA Cup though, but away to Broonster is going to be a tough one.
At least I have come in at round 2 (missed out all the riff raff :lol: )

First game, i probably had the better chances to clinch the win. But like most of my games this season with Leverkuesen the match ended a draw.
Second game, the first half was quite an even battle with the score 2-1 at half time, but then richdmx showed his premiership class , banged in 2 more good goals to kill the match off.

Phew! After a complete false start when I realised after 5 mins of Pro Evo time that I'd chosen Olympiakos by way of total brain failure instead of Spartak, we started again and I was starting to wish I hadn't. 2-0 down after 15 mins after Chelsea just started rampaging all over me - Robben, Duff, Drogba, Forssell and Lampard were tearing Spartak apart and I was getting rather "concerned" as I just couldn't breakdown Terry and Gallas. Moko looked like getting to HT at 2-0 up when Spartak suddenly unleashed a 2 goal salvo on 44 and 45 mins to draw level at the interval. Rather undeserved TBH but I was mightly relieved at this point! :D
Second half started off dangerously for Spartak with Chelsea getting lots of space with Moko's attacking intent getting his wide men totally clear of defenders but no end product was produced and it was the difference maker in this half. Spartak soon established a 4-2 scoreline around the 65th minute with the 4th breaking the spine of resistance from Chelsea and multiple strikes later painted an unfortunate scoreline after such a promising start for the men from Stamford Bridge :D

good report John. thanks for the games. I kept telling myself at 2-0 to go all out defensive but it's not in my nature. Hey do you remember when it was 2-2 and you tried a back header that your keeper missed and it just rolled past the post? If that had of went in, it might have been my day

Connection went which is pretty unusual although there was a massive down pour.
As mentioned to John, the L word has been hit and miss recently and I got really peeved off 2nd half as I was getting bogged down with lag. That was my first game since I had reinstalled pes4 and its still the same.
No shots said it all really in the second half.
Gunna re-install it once again onto my other partition drive and if that does not work then I will have to unistall it altogether.

This was a close game up until about the 35th minute. Tequila had scored a 30 yard screamer and i'd equalized shortly after then. Then, I did a back pass to my keeper. Instead of booting it he controlled it and ran forward. In came Gomes, slid the keeper and bang 2-1.
He grabbed a well taken 3rd in the 45th min or so when a ball was played over the back of my defence onto the right wing and he put a low cross in and Gomes was left free in the centre of the box and he rifled it past the keeper.
Going on the advice of others, in the 2nd half I played a very attacking formation. It seemed to be working and I had a few chances until a pass to a defender wrong footed himand went straight on to the keeper. The keeper in shock passed to Gomes on the wing who calmly rolled it into the empty net :doh:
After that I piled players forward and had a few very good chances. Indeed two clean through one on ones over the top were found wanting - both were fluffed and my striker should have at least hit the target. However this left tonnes of space at the back and Tequila went on to score on just about every attack he had :cry:
Funny thing was at the end we had 12 shots each. It just shows how fine a striker Tequila is :thumbs:
Nice report and well played Matt. The scoreline is a bit flattering as the game was closer but thanks to the Athletico keeper for those two goals. :lol:

Started off really bright with a couple of good chances but fell one down to one of the spawniest, 'ping off a defender and straight to an unmarked forward' goals I've seen. Br00n was passing the ball nicely and keeping it a low tempo which I HATE playing against. But a quick counterstrike after the break brought it back to 1-1 and it was game on. But the usual Spartak defensive meltdown left Reinaldo an easy tap-in goal to make it 2-1.
The third came from a terribly unlucky CK that went straight in off a defender's leg that gave the keeper no chance at all. But a despicable foul at 3-1 changed the game completely. Cavenaghi was through on goal when Bernard Mendy sliced him down and was given the red card for being the last man. The game totally changed direction and it was down to me to try and dictate the play (which I HATE doing as well) and although there was a lot of huffing and puffing, the PSG wall stood up. The fourth was an injury time PK/red card tackle from my defender when the game was finished. Just couldn't resist :D
Another Cup campaign comes to a miserable end - running out of time to win anything now in the world of PES 4 :D
