I surf most nights for at least a couple of hours sat on the sofa with my laptop on my lap, I'm sure I've read somewhere that this can heat up the 'old family jewels' such that it might affect fertility. The wife and I are going to try for a kiddie soon, what can I do to combat the negative affect the heat from the laptop might be having ?

Errr...put it on the coffee table or a desk?

Think you need to worry about it affecting your brain, not your spuds to be honest

Can't you put a magazine on your lap and the laptop above it. Should absorb most of the heat

By the way, they are call Notebooks now :p Because it's not design to put on laps...well to a point and the legal side of things for calling it a laptop when it runs more efficently off the lap.

Anyway, get yourself one of those breakfast tray thing with a beanbag cusions attached at the bottom, they are perfect for using the "Notebook" on your lap.

I remember hearing something about the effect of laptops on fertility too. A quick search on the BBC News website turned up this BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4078895.stm) which seems to support your worries

Having just bought my first laptop, err, notebook, I've been looking at purchasing one of those trays - any idea where I could find one?
My mate has a nice Homer Simpson 'Duff Beer' tray, but can't tell me which shop it came from because it was a gift.

Ermm, my sister has one, try BHS or the like, most department stores should carry them. They should be big enough too, i can fit my 15.4" Dell 8600 on mine.

Looks good, might investigate further if I can't find any cushioned trays on the high street :)
