Hello,

Sorry I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but with the search function not working and no-one asking the question in the last month I can't find the answer!

My didigtheatre is humming quite noisily when there are brief periods of silence in a film or when left switched on with no sound.

Is it something to do with the fact the speaker wires are close to the mains socket?

Thanks

Scott

Scott,

Is it the DigiTheatre you have, or the DTS DigiTheatre? If you have the DTS version you should not experience any mains hum, however the standard AC-3 DigiTheatre does produce mains hum which can be quite noticeable.
Hope this helps.

Got the same hum on the same product.

Remember Videologic saying it was due to the budget nature of the product and couldn't be corrected. I have noticed that having the speaker wire running alongside mains wire does seem to make it worse. I have pretty much stopped using the Digitheatre for anything other than action movies as the buzz is so noticeable. Try e-mailing videologic or check out www.709online.com if it is still there as there was always a few tips in the hardware section.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the replys,

It is the Digitheatre 5.1 Dolby Digital package, although with Comet selling the DTS version for £250 I am very tempted to upgrade!

Glad the DTS doesnt suffer from the same problem.

Thanks

The DTS does have the hum. Videologic bought mine back off me after having 4 replacements. All had the hum, but some worse than others.

Put it down to extreme bad luck, jondoc!
