Just bought a Samsung 26" LCD which is HD ready. My question is whether or not its worth getting a dvd player which upscales and has a HDMI output. I've noticed the Samsung HD-950 at around £125 but its expensive for a dvd player if I won't notice a significant improvement. Opinions on this would be welcomed.

£125 is cheap for a DVD player IMO. Generally for a main player you wont get real quality unless you pay at least £300 for a top spec name model. And HDMI output is essential IMO.

indeed. when you spend 5-600 quid on a tv then theres no point feeding it with a 25 quid player!

i have an upscaling player on my samsung and tbh i have been pleasently surprised. i dont know how it does it but the faroduja (sp) chipest thing must be very clever to create all that info out of nothing.

Perhaps the main benefit of a scaling machine is the ability to experiment and get the best from your kit.

I only bought a Samsung HD745 so I could see 1080I (after a region hack) on my jvc crt tv via component.
